[REPORTED]JHMCS Too Bright at Night

Add the IFEI night lighting and RWR buttons to displays that are too bright at night. I've actually taken to turning the IFEI entirely off and running the ENG support page on one of the DDI's because it's so bright.

Yep, you're right. And I thought I was the only one turning the IFEI off at night.

IFEI is fine once your turn it onto NITE mode. Then it goes green and you can turn the brightness right the way down.

As for JHMCS you can also adjust the brightness slightly with the power dial, but I think the best method is via the HMD page but its not modelled just yet.

It's not though. I tend to fly with the cockpit lighting, HUD, and displays extremely dim at night. The IFEI only dims so low, which is not nearly as dim as the rest of the lighting. The brightness for the RWR buttons doesn't dim at all and just flashes when it gets to a notch before it turns off completely, though I care less about them than the IFEI. The IFEI is as dim as it goes before shutting off in these two pictures.

Agreed, HMD is too bright at night time even at the lowest setting.

I have made a feature improvement request and asked the team to look at the brightness.

Thanks

Should the DAY/NIGHT/AUTO button on the HMD DDI page do something? I was hoping it would dim the brightness...
Definitely should. Not implemented yet.

And what is the answer now after four month?

I have made the request, but please understand this is a low priority issue, we have a lot of work being done on the hornet so as soon as there is time to look at it the team will.

thanks

Then what is it supposed to do? That's an HMD screen, all other buttons do something with JHMCS display.

This maybe not be the same JHMCS, but it promises 'day and night capabilities': https://elbitsystems.com/product/joint-helmet-mounted-cueing-system-jhmcs/

I haven't come across anything specific to that option, but it's self-explanatory, isn't it? What else can it possibly do? The same option works correctly on the A-10C II, btw.

If I do find anything specific, I'll send a DM.

The thing is if we just assume things they often end up being incorrect, its best to find a reference.

thanks

Yeah it is just a guess maybe. And I do not have reference yet. But just rethink this for half a second. In a logical point of view doesn´t day/night simply sounds like the same as what the day/night switch for the HUD does? Yeah and I know your answer already 😋

Ok thanks. Just to note. It is not perfect, but (at least with my mousewheel on a Logitech G502) it needs five"clicks" to turn the HMD on (and thus to the lowest brightness) from zero. Before that nothing happens.

The information we have is only the HMD knob controls brightness for JHMCS.

thanks
