While I completely agree that the 3090 is more than will likely be needed any time soon for gaming loads, I'm put off of the 3080 only having 10GB with regard to VR. DCS in VR on a Rift S does seem to reach into the 10GB region on my 1080ti, with the PD increased. MSFS2020 at the highest settings at 4k can use 12GB of VRAM . So a 16GB GPU is really what I would want.

I wouldn't touch these VRAM starved cards. There will be other models unveiled as soon as AMD drops theirs, or go for the later. We already know they will have more VRAM.

The thing is, right now, even with VR,

 

 

NO BODY NEEDS a RTX 3090 Except to get the Highest Benchmark Scores.

 

RTX3080 will run 4K just fine and even 8K (Samsung QLED800/900 TVs). w/ DLSS2.0.

 

The Price jump between the two is 200%... $699 ->$1499+

 

You think AMD care's about wasting fabrication resources on a HUGE GPU that's gonna only sell to benchers?

 

That same GPU, that will yield maybe 5 or 6 GPUs per wafer, where as a Mid-Tier would yield 40-50+ per wafer (rough example estimates, I'd have to get the new wafer size and die sizes for accurate numbers).

 

and those same Mid-Tier GPU's would outsell the Top Tier GPU 500+:1 if not more.

 

an AMD 3080 Equiv rDNA2 would be optimal, but no one needs a RTX3090 or Equivalent.

 

And by time we get to a place where the Performance number of the RTX3090 is relevant, we'll be 2 generations later and the new GPUs will be faster and use less power.

Humm... That seems correct: when an 3090 will be needed you probably will have a better and half price replacement with better comsumption and features.

The 3080 / 3080TI should be enought.

Even a 3070 if not in VR.

What are your FPS/frametimes on Multiplayer servers. I doubt many people will see a substantial FPS increase in Multiplayer by upgrading their GPU. My CPU frametime in Multiplayer is about 12 to 14 ms while my GPU only uses 9ms (3600x&1080Ti&Reverb)

Skipping this as well...as I said a few years ago, when the 4xxx arrives I may check again. For now, 1440p and 1080ti is still a sweetspot, no need to shell out hard earned money.

New RTX 30 on the way! And apparently, the RTX 3070 is not as powerful as previously thought!

 

 

Are you excited about the new RTX 30? Well, we have some good news!

All thanks to Galax that recently had a meeting with partners in China, where of course, it seems to have taken little care with the use of mobile phones and / or cameras ...

The slides have already reached the Internet!

 

After all, not only do we have new cards on the way, it has become a little apparent that NVIDIA's claim regarding the RTX 3070 is not quite as true as that.

That is, the RTX 3070 is no more powerful than the RTX 2080 Ti of the previous generation, but it is above the RTX 2080 Super, which is already very good.

 

So, it seems, we will have an RTX 3080 with 20GB of memory that should be between the RTX 3080 of 10GB and RTX 3090 of 24GB.

And of course, as we already said in the last weeks, the RTX 3060 should really be about to be announced, offering a performance equivalent to the old RTX 2080.

Similarly, we can also find a mention of the PG142 SKU 0 board, which should be the RTX 3070 Super or 3070 Ti, which is more powerful than the RTX 2080 Ti, with 6144 CUDA cores.

GeForce RTX 3070 to cost 520-680 EUR in Europe

 

According to Overclocking.com, the pricing of the RTX 3070 model is expected to be within 520 to 680 EUR.

The prices actually come from a Spanish retailer ‘PC Components’ who listed the cards three weeks in advance.

 

The cheapest custom RTX 3070 cards should retail at 519.90 EUR (with Spanish 21% VAT).

According to the listing, the cheapest models come from PNY (RTX 3070 Dual Fan) and ZOTAC (RTX 3070 Twin Edge) both listed at 520 EUR.

This is 20 EUR higher than the official MSRP from NVIDIA (source).

 

More advanced models, such as ASUS ROG STRIX will retail at 660 to 680 EUR (non-OC and OC models).

Unfortunately, the retailer does not currently list other popular brands such as Gigabyte, MSI, or EVGA.

 

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 launches on October 15th. Unlike RTX 3080 and RTX 3090, this card features a different Ampere GPU.

The RTX 3070 is a GA104-based model equipped with 5888 CUDA cores and 8GB of GDDR6 non-X memory rated at 14 Gbps.

NVIDIA claims that the card should offer better performance than GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, although AIB leaked roadmaps do not seem to confirm this just yet.

 

 

 

 

British retailer Overclockers.co.uk also lists RTX 3070 models, although the pricing is only shown on each product page:

Prices are just high. First announcement in the shops here was between 600-700+€ for an 3080 depending on the brand and the tweak, now they sit between 800 and 900+€, all still on pre-order. Prices for a 3090 range from 1700 to over 2300 (for a factory top tweaked EVGA) euro now. :cry:

I fail to see the problem. supply and demand in action.

Seller, whoever it may be, is entitled to ask whatever price he feels like for their wares. if you think this is overpriced don't buy it, simple.
