Air start missions still have a problem with allowing the drag chute to deploy. :(:(

 

I know how to land this thing, have done it a few times if i start off on the ground or cold.

 

If i plop a 21 in the ME as air start, have a dogfight and RTB...no parachute. EVER.

 

Only when air starting. And trust me it is nothing to do with air reservoir or wrong button as i said i can land any other time.;)

 

It can't be hard to reproduce so could we get a fix for this?

I am dying to learn this module in depth but it does my head in when i try to land and have to skid the entire length of Bandar Abbas' runway to stop using just brakes and level flaps.

 

Literally, just plop a 21 in anywhere as air start, fly around, land, no chute??

(gear lever in neutral as air start has it set with lock in place)

Other than a few texture errors in the log file.....we are unable to reproduce the bug.

 

I see a few mods in your installations. Whether they are causing it or not, I'm not entirely sure.

 

But it wouldn't hurt to run a repair and/or cleanup

Possibly something to do with wheels on ground after air start as opposed to deploying in air?

I only ever deploy once flaps are set level and speed down to below 300 at max

 

I will remove all mods and test again and report back

No it just straight up does not deploy at all.

Even if i wait to hit 200 (which in hindsight is closer to what i actually should have said) it does not deploy after an air start.

 

Still to test this after removing ALL mods but will get on it tomorrow

As expected, having removed all mods and run repair, the drag chute can deploy in the air but when the wheels hit the tarmac it will not deploy after air start.

Tested on Caucasus free flight instant action landing at Nalchik

This time i reverted to the ME method of ploppin the mig in as air start and it worked flawlessly...:doh::huh::huh:

 

Wonder what is going on the times it is not working, has decent rate onto the runway got a bearing on whether the chute will deploy?

 

EDIT: on the other hand i have no idea why the nose gear is moving like it is at the end of the track here as i am not controlling it at this point

Ran into the same issue just a few minutes ago playing on the GAW server. Hit the ground for a nice landing and tapped the drag chute button. Nada. The other day I accidentally did it in the air and saw that it had indeed deployed.

Check your service air accumulator pressure. If you leave the gear handle out of neutral or do some other things you can run out of the pneumatic pressure to deploy the chute.

 

Also the chute rips at ~300 km/h so it if seems to open the clam shell and instantly disappear that's probably why.
