Unlimited Fuel ALWAYS

Saigon

Recommended Posts

Goodmorning everyone.

I noticed that my Mig -21 always fly with unlimited fuel, even when the option in the general menu and in the mission editor menu is disabled.

I had already noticed this thing a few days ago, it also happened to me in online multiplayer but I didn't give it any weight.

Now I did a simple test so if any of you can try to confirm:

Instant action / take off / caucasus

I verified that this mission, taken as an example, did not have the unlimited fuel option.

I use the latest STABLE VERSION of DCS

Thanks

Ok, i think i found the reason.

I had selected the SIMPLIFIED ENGINE MANAGEMENT option because I believed that it concerned only the engine shutdown management under certain conditions.

The manual inside the Mig 21 folder says:

"SIMPLIFIED ENGINE MANAGEMENT - If this option is selected, in-flight engine failures and shutdown

due to any kind of stress will be prevented. Engine shutdown can be a frequent event for

inexperienced players. Every time the engine stops in the air, you will have to attempt to relight it.

Note that you have a limited number of restart attempts. Restarting the engine in the air can be

complicated or even impossible in some circumstances."

With this option selected also the fuel becomes unlimited, even in multiplayer.:(

I have noticed the engine staying on long after all tanks (incl. header tank) indicate empty on some MP servers - mostly modern ones. I'm not sure it the servers override the engine management setting, but I don't think that's it as I've still seen flameouts due to the other usual reasons happen. The two I've personally witnessed this on are Growling Sidewinder's and Blue Flag PG, but when I've been playing on Cold War the aircraft has never magically kept running on fumes.

Hi Rossmum.

I don't think servers take priority over these options.

If you select this option you will have an engine shutdown only if you exceed the speed. But if you do the inverted flight, for example, No.

I used it for this reason, but I never realized that the fuel never ran out. I don't like this very personally.

what I mean is that if you put that option in your menu you will also use it on the server. Correct?

Sorry for my english

Ok Jonne, but here we are not talking about the "unlimited fuel" or "unlimited ammunition" option and which we find in the "Gameplay" menu or in the "Mission Editor", since these are decided by the Server.

This is one of the options in the "Special" menu and this I don't think is controlled by the server. I have been flying online for a long time with the "SIMPLIFIED ENGINE MANAGEMENT" function active, as well as: "Realistic ASP ...., Disable Pitot Shock Errors and they have always worked on many servers.

In conclusion I think that if you fly online with the "SIMPLIFIED ENGINE MANAGEMENT" option activated, you will fly with unlimited fuel.

If special options for warbirds are controlled by the server, I can't see why they wouldn't be for the MiG and other modules.
