Issues with TARGET Device Analyzer after updating to Win10

I recently bit the bullet and updated to Windows 10 on my gaming rig. Now my TARGET Device Analyzer only shows a maximum of two selectable controllers no matter how many times I Enumerate Devices.

It will show my MS SWFFB2 and the first Thrustmaster controller (I have six TM controllers, up to 5 I use in a TARGET profile at any one time). For example, it will show the HOTAS Cougar, and when I unplug the Cougar it will then display my Warthog Throttle.

Plugging the Cougar back in will replace the Throttle with the Cougar.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled TARGET, rebooting both times. I have tried with and without the Windows Store disabled. FWIW, I can see all of the controllers in the TARGET GUI program, just not the Device Analyzer.

Since the Device Analyzer is my primary tool for testing my CTS profile, this is a big deal.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I remember I encountered that issue. It was a while ago and I am not sure if it was related to windows 10. However. I remember that in my case, the issue was due to my Steam controller wireless USB dongle. I know someone else who had the issue due to a similar dongle for one of his mouse.

In this reddit post I propose a few alternative to the Thrustmaster Target Device Analyser.

..

I'm trying the device analyser right now and can't get it to work either :joystick:.

Well, I'll keep using Vjoy+Joystick Gremlin to remplace Target, and the Joystick Gremlin input viewer as main monitoring tool. It doesn't do keyboard and mouse monitoring however. For that I continue to use the TM Event Tester.exe. I find it easy to read with press in Red and release in Black.

Thanks for the link. DIView is pretty slick, and while it doesn't show the inputs from the original controller (only the virtual), it should be a good workaround.

Next step is TM tech support when I get an opportunity. But this virus thing has me working like a dog...

Here it works under Windows 10 but i swapped my Warthog stick base for a Virpil one and updated the VID/PID code so Target would recogonize it as a Warthog stick.

I use Target and your excellent profile for many years without issue (only done the fix on windows store and teamspeak)

Sometimes, the issue with recognition is linked that during the 1st time plug in, an issue came and create that mess.

Couple points that might help

- to uninstall the drivers, you have to unplug all the joysticks before launching the uninstallation.

- from now on, you have to follow line by line the install docs from thrustmaster . In summary:

- reboot and install thrustmaster driver. It will tell you when to connect your joysticks. Reboot

- install target

- disable the windows power saving of the USB (turn off energy saving)

- make sure you are upgrading the firmware of the joystick themselves (i had an issue and I actually realised i never did it before)

Hope it helps

Best,

Cobra

Make sure to unplug your joystick BEFORE installing Target. Here is a quote from the Target release note.

Warning

Unplug all T.A.R.G.E.T-compatible controllers before proceeding with installation.

When prompted to reboot after installation, plug each controller again.

That info was wrong, somehow it was not updated (i'm using WinAero Tweaker to put it on my desktop), i'm on 1909 too.

Finally had a chance to check this out on the WIN 10Pro computer that has my Thrustmaster gear on it.

I don't see a problem with displaying controllers in the TARGET Device Analyzer. Please see attached images.

Image #1 shows the device analyzer.

Image #2 Shows a Win10 update I still have not installed.

Image #3 Shows recently installed updates.

I have all but the rudder pedals plugged into a USB 2 10 port powered hub. The pedals are plugged into a Inateck Superspeed 7 Ports PCI-E to USB 3.0 Expansion Card.

Edited:

Just want to add that I went ahead and updated to the latest version of Win10 and still see all controllers in the Device Analyzer. So looks like my original thought that this issue might be related to different versions of Win10 was wrong.

If i remember correctly, the same solution (uninstalling - reinstalling Windows Store) can be used for when Target takes a long to compile.

I just checked and noticed i don't have my TM throttle in the device analyzer anymore, a few weeks ago it was still there.

The only thing i did was re-plug it in another USB hub. Maybe that caused it...?

I don't need it analyzed atm so it's not urgent but maybe one day...

S O L V E D!!!

After much Google searching answers, I see one that has work.

The issue: Msi motherboard, with x570 chipshet and Rtx graphic cards, can have issues with usb devices...

The solutión, that works, for the moment, buy a pci-e usb 3.0 card, and connect Thrusmaster Joystick and throttle to them..

And now all works as spected

Thanks, to all, for tips
