Very possitive update !!!!

Thanks matt....

I built a PC last year just for black shark... it will still be good to go if the sim comes out this year.....

Any new's is good Matt, 1 update a month, no matter how trivial it may seem, keeps the faithfull going.

I AM SO READY FOR SOME TACTICAL HELICOPTER COMBAT AND ON-LINE MADNESS :pilotfly:

Intel Core i5-4690K Devil's Canyon Quad-Core 3.5GHz (cooler master hyper 212 evo CPU FAN), ASUS MAXIMUS VII HERO (Intel LGA 1150) motherboard, 16GB PC2400 DDR3 RAM, ASUS STRIX GTX 970 4GB Video Card, Creative Soundblaster Z Pci-E Sound card, 750W Power supply, MS Force Feedback 2 Joystick, Trackir 5, Logitech Z-5500 5.1 surround sound.

Hopefully this year, infact!

They DID say 2008...

But they only said they hoped for a 2008 release, might end up being early 2009..

I've been flying around in X-planes helicopters, pretending I'm doing basic flight training for the Black Shark :D

One must stretch his imagination to the limit to get immersed into X-plane though, it's very unimmersive me thinks..

Allthough it's helicopter simulation is OK except they got vortex ring state kinda screwed (says me brother who was a helicopter flight instructor anyway)..

And you wonder why they won't give you a definate date.

When anything they say is suddenly gospel and everyone is upset when a "hopefully will be released" date comes and goes.

Quality Product

WAGS,

YES, please take your time and build a quality product. Although I'm anxious for its release, I would rather wait another year for a sim that is as near PERFECT as can be.

Quality is everything in a good sim!

Thanks,

Is there any data on Mirage 2000, or harrier?

THX for the Note, happy to see Mi-24, So even I can enjoy choppers, saving downed pilots from hot areas.

So everything seems to be included, only one EU bird would not harm, even if F-16 fly in EU.

Any French pilots or mechanics that would know if M-2000 data is available same goes for british Harrier/tornado. ?

Whit all this flight models mentioned sounds already to good to be trough, or that the engine will get way to old on till all models are realised.

(HOPE NOT) since its the only Sim where u can truly enjoy simulated combat in multilayer environment against different machines the ur own.

When all Mirages are done :) we could go for some SAMs I would be more then happy to drive OAS,avenger, linbeck,Roland, in chopper environment.(sorry I started dreaming for a while)

DCS: Black Shark Update: 09 July 2008

After a longer than expected delay due to some new build problems (accurate track file reproduction), I have a new DCS update for you. As last time, most of the DCS: Black Shark effort is focused on identifying and fixed the many bugs that are still in the code. Given the increased complexity of the Ka-50 over previous aircraft we have modeled, the likelihood of bugs creeping in grows dramatically. Additionally, the new Mission Editor, new campaign system, re-vamped multiplayer, and new GUI interface has certainly brought a new set of testing and debugging challenges. We realize that a few of you are a bit grumpy about the delays, but please understand that we wish to release a quality product and not put it out the door with known, significant bugs.

In addition to testing and debugging, a lot work continues on missions. These are sub-divided into the single missions, campaign missions and training missions. While there is still a lot of work to do on this front, some of the missions are already in test and this is proving a valuable tool in identifying bugs in other areas of the code.

Here are a few items that have worked there way into the code base since my last update:

- Track file reproducibility problems have been resolved

- Multi-monitor support has been added. Now you can set, i.e. standard view + Shkval view on 2 monitors

- New TrackIR support is added

- NATO mission editor icons have been added, in addition to new Russian style military icons

- English caution/warning lamps have been added to the Ka-50 cockpit

- Mission editor keyboard commands have been added (Del, etc.)

- Icing and de-icing of blades and pitot tube has been added

- Turbulence has been added

- Engines icing has been added

- Dust influence on engines has been added

- Engines deterioration and failures by exceeding normal operational conditions has been added

- Hydro system and brakes have been adjusted

- Autopilot sensors are adjusted to be more realistic real

- Control system channel failures have been added

- Triple-head support has been added

- Trigger coalition rule has been added t Mission Editor

- Weather presets have been added

- New GUI music has been added

- Installer has been added

- Cloud density has been adjusted

- Start and end mission string is added to debriefings

- New system of preloading resources has been implemented. This may result in objects not appearing right after changing views to a not previously displayed object. This may also give more FPS on not top-line PCs when terrain preloading is set to 80km, but this will probably not cause any FPS changes with terrain preloading set to 20km.

- Flatter effect for blades is added (human FM)

- Ceilings are tuned (human FM)

- This of course is in addition to a long list of resolved bugs.

In addition to the 550+ page Ka-50 flight manual mentioned earlier, we have also now completed the 160+ page DCS manual that covers all the GUI elements to include such pages as the Mission Editor, Campaign Editor, Multiplayer screen, etc.

So, in a nut shell, that is where we are with DCS: Black Shark and we are still shooting for a release sometime later in 2008.

As for after DCS: Black Shark, work continues on other aircraft modules. Although these are certainly works in progress and hardly complete, I have attached a few development cockpit images of the F-16C and Mi-24. To reiterate what was mentioned before, we have a list of aircraft modules that are currently in development and one stage or another; however, that does not mean that we will not consider other aircraft if we have the proper data and feel the aircraft fits well within our entertainment and military simulation lines.

Thanks,

Matt

DCS have F16C ? how to get F16 in DCS?

The F-16C is one of the "may come someday" projects. It is not flyable in DCS:BlackShark nor is it modable to fly it in DCS:BlackShark.

While these shots show a WIP-Cockpit, so far there is no news which plane or helo will be the next project after the A-10C. Infact, there are several statements that even ED themselves haven't decided on that, yet. There are also WIP-screenshots of cockpits from the Apache and Hind, but in the end, who knows what other projects they are evaluating?

I personally doubt it will be the F-16C, but honestly if the candidates are F-16C, Apache and Hind, I'm happy with either choice. :D

There are a lot of C blocks that are already very old, so why not? After i heard that the a-10 will have a MLWS, i'm like 'everything goes' ;)

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

so DCS is only for HELI ? is there any other planes available ? if yes what planes are available in DCS

DCS is the new engine from ED/TFC and it will be for both, rotary aircraft and fixed wings. But each module of DCS released, will add just one highly detailed aircraft to the DCS-Universe, but with extreme detail.

In other words: DCS is a new series and BlackShark the first aircraft added to this new series. With each new model DCS will grow, will be updated and enhanced, and eventually enable all modules to be played together online.

Which aircraft are added to the simulation is not set in stone, though. There are different helos and jets in the pipeline, but it is not clear in which order these aircraft will be released. One big argument that influences the decision on what is possible and what is not, is the information available.

Modern jets usually have classified data on systems and performance, so solid data for a simulation with the level of detail DCS has is simply impossible. That's especially true for some planes like F-22, F-117, F-35, Eurofighter, etc. You won't see any of those planes anywhere soon in DCS.

There are however planes and versions of planes that are very well documented and information about them is publicly available - like some Blocks and Versions of the F-16C for example, as Sobek already posted. So we might see one of those implemented soon - we might.

I guess that once we're getting closer to the release of the A-10C, information of what is coming next will surface soon. After all in Wags report of his recent visit in Moscow, it's mentioned that decisions were made on the future of DCS. Maybe this included the next module or at least narrowed down the choice.

As always, we need to have patience. ;)
