Crosshair viii + 5800x here: my G2 will simply not work. It is a know problem with x570 motherboards.

I even tried an Asmedia 1142 based USB 3.1 pcie Card (Logilink PC0081) powered bij Sata: still same problem. What a bizar problem and disappointment, specifically upgraded to a 5800x and RTX 3090 for the G2...

Anyone here got the G2 working on a x570?

Yes, a PCIe USB Card or a USB-Hub are reported to help.

but you will definitely need to crank up the volume if you're coming from headphones

If you got an early model watch out to not crank it up above 85 or so. The ones failing with black screens are reportet to run at full volume.

when they start blacking out just for a short period of time, set the volume lower. For me it sounded like its a too small capacitor or so.

More Infos can be found on reddit.

Managed to get some time and setup my G2. I'm still using the GTX1080SC at the moment. (Hoping to pickup the 3090FE on Friday).

The color and resolution just isn't "popping" for me. To be honest, my first flight in the P-47, and I felt like I was still using my Rift S. I'm set at 90hz for the frame rate. I also made sure to set my SteamVR to about 50%, (to get as close to the 2160 resolution as possible). Also, in DCS I reset the PD to 1.0. I do like the adjustable IPD slider on the headset, and adjusted a little via that too.

As I noted, things just don't appear to be a big diff compared to my previous Rift S flights. Yeah, I know, I'm doing something wrong... But I'll keep digging, and I know it'll get better. Plus, once I put in that 3090FE badboy later this weekend... :)

Yes, many x570 owners report issues. Also a few that are OK. Seems like Asus boards are most affected.

The good news is: I just installed the 2702 bios for my Crosshair VIII Hero, and it seems to fix this issue for me. G2 has been super stable for hours in DCS now.

Note: The right headphone does crap out sometimes, but this is clearly a build quality thing, it only happens when I move/shake the headset or adjust the right headphone.

Many thanks for the info because I have the same MB Crosshair VIII Wifi Hero. However I´m still waiting my reverb G2 (here in Spain)...

I would invest in some custom lenses, for the G1 (I did ) VR Optician - Prescription Glasses for Virtual Reality Headsets, my glasses are more expensive than the headset so ... spending the extra makes a lot of sense, you dont mention if your processor is a K series or no but i would recommend over clocking if it is, the 1080 GTX FTW2 is a good GPU, but you will make some compromises in settings, i had to on the 1080TI FTW3 (see my setting below in my sig block)

There is also a company in Colorado, Reloptix, which will have G2 inserts in a matter of days, if not already. Response time would be much shorter than ordering from out of the country.

oh my word... I don't know what to say... my new 3090FE is just awesome paired with the G2!, (vs. my old GTX1080SC). I need to figure out how to capture/post the fpsVR results. Regardless, with my FE, I'm so totally impressed! I'm going back to flying for now.... :)

What settings are you using? I'm still working on dialing mine in. In sparse areas I'm getting 90 fps, but in Dubai or in missions with a lot of objects, it drops to between 45-60.

Still much much better than the old system with Rift S, which was lucky to make 40 in sparse areas and 15 in crowded areas.

That’s consistent with my experience on the G1, when the object count gets super high it goes back to a stable 45. I will post my settings later on today (my current ones below) are for my 1080ti.

Received my G2 this morning (Having ordered it on 30th June!)

My first time with a VR Headset. Just spent the last couple of hours wandering arond a virtual skyloft. Very impressive visually and audibly but I have no clue whatsoever how to launch DCS with it ?

Can anyone advise please as I'm obviously desperate to try it ?

I'm running standalone DCS

Thanks

You will need two programs from Steam:

1: Steam VR.

2: Windows Mixed Reality for Steam VR.

Once installed:

Launch Windows Mixed Reality for Steam VR. This will launch the WMR Portal, Steam, and Steam VR.

Launch DCS from your DCS.exe. If VR is checked in settings, it should open up in VR. If not check VR in settings and then relaunch.

Important: There is currently a bug with WMR and the G2 video setting, currently 100% is way to much. Set it to 50% to get as close to 2160x2160 as you can.

That should get you started, good luck!

Thank you. I've never run DCS with Steam and purchased all my modules for the Standalone, will everything still work through Steam ?

Yep, you don't need to run DCS through Steam, you just need Steam for Steam VR to go along with WMR for Steam VR.

I have stand alone DCS and it works fine.

Yesterday I finally received an email from Amazon Spain, and I was really scared that they were announcing the cancellation of my preorder... But they just told me that, due to the "unexpected" delay of the delivery, they will cashback 50€ on my account... Sweet!! That brings the final price at 550€, so 200€ less than the official retail price here in France (VAT included).

Unfortunately, no new ETA so far.

Of course I would prefer to get it this week, but I don't really care if it arrives in 2 or 3 weeks. I just want it at the preorder Price (and even less now)...

Followed your instructions, but when I run Windows Mixed Reality for Steam VR It just displays

image.png.ba9c741c506ce08cf676e203bc6bb9df.png

Then nothing happens after I plug the headset in until I eventually get

and then

image.png.2cb8e26fece7a69fb4a6a62df6e9b8d1.png

If I unplug and plug the headset back in after the first message, WMR runs and I'm able to use the headset in the Skyloft, but if I run DCS from the desktop it's still 2D windowed and my system grinds to a halt (I have an i7, RTX 2080 Super and 24GB ram)... and the Steam "Please plug in your VR headset is still there so I guess it;s just gone into regular WMR.

Any ideas ?

Just a thought.. I originally installed Windows WMR and played with that for a while before I knew to install the Steam versions. Should I uninstall Windows WMR ? Could it be conflicting with the Steam version ?

Hmm odd, I would try uninstalling Steam VR and re-installing. You did get WMR for SteamVR correct? When you launch it, it should launch SteamVR for you and headset should show as ready or in stand by.

No.

Ok when you put your headset on WMR will launch automatically. Close that down. Then launch WMR for SteamVR, it should launch along with Steam VR and put you into Steam VR Home. Then launch DCS from your desktop DCS.exe.
