Why were you trying to please my wife?

Because she wanted to be pleased. Trust me, I know ;)

Anyway, all v2.5.6 patches are performing very well on my aging machine, this included. I'm seeing a completely fluid 60 F/S almost all the time. So well done ED, am liking it very much!

Enjoying the increased frames in VR MP. The SC WIP is just that a WIP. Initial impressions are positive.

Found MSAA mask in the VR tab. Can we get some detail on what it does and how to optimize it?

TGP FLIR Looks great in both white and black hot. Performance using MAVFs is excellent.

Some comms menu bugs happening in MP with CASE I being called by controllers but menu options are CASE II/III. Hard to line that up.

I had an issue not being able to select a role on any MP servers, the culprit was the multicolor chat mod. Just in case anyone else is having the same issue.

One problem I'm having though is my frame timing in VR whenever I look inside (any) cockpit. Frame rate is reporting solid 40fps still, but the refresh rate for cockpit graphics is looks more like a vomit inducing 4fps.

The thing that I see that is most heavy in cities is the trees. If anti-aliasing is activated, it destroys the FPS. Flying low over the trees is to keep the FPS in critical condition.

The SuperCarrier is extremely heavy. It destroys FPS even if you remove all units from the deck. Only the animations that cannot be removed remain.

There was no performance gain in the new openBeta update. Here was the same thing as the past patch. I hope this is resolved!

Have you tried switching anti-aliasing off? I run DCS completely without and also PD at just 1.0 and see a considerable increase in performance with the latest update, even with the carrier, although mine still is empty.

Just had a nice mission taking off from the Teddy, dropping two HARMs at some SA-11 sites (dunno if effective though) and engaged two Floggers. Shot one with an AMRAAM in TWS (TBH I think this was my first TWS kill in the Hornet, didn't try that before) and went into dogfighting the other, trying to stay on his six for a while instead of just hammering that X winder into him just because it was so much fun. Too bad my friggen GA Z77 D3H rev 1.0 again did what it's best known for: Just shutting down my rig out of a sudden. That mobo is giving me a hard time. A lot. Worst choice ever. Doesn't do it all that often, but when it happens, it just sucks big time. This also killed my Firefox profile two times already which is a real pain in the rear restoring afterwards (I backup that regularly, but getting the most recent tabs and bookmarks from the crashed profile in is still possible, but tricky). If I just could afford a new rig... just replacing the mobo by sth else isn't worth all the hassle anymore nowadays. I wish I could have flown back to land the thing on the boat... fsgrin.png

Looks like the MiG 21bis got some fixes in today -

Thanks for sharing, totally would have missed that icon_redface.gif

BTW I'm glad ED fixed that buggy governor switch in the Huey. Have to try this out soon dealwithit.png

The team releases the open beta build to the stable version when it’s, eh, stable.

I'm happy to hear VR users are seeing increased FPS. I unfortunately am not seeing an improvement in non VR. Exact same issue as before the patch. Sitting on the tarmac, 100 fps, truck drives by, 50 fps. Load up bomber escort in the P51 and again, 100 fps and drops all the way to single digits with bombers in the area. Hop into a quick mission, free flight and I'm back up to 100+ fps.

Hi there! I didn’t find any information about patch release date for the regular 2.5, non beta DCS. Is there anybody know that date? Appreciate for the answer.

Hmmm.. June 3rd for the next patch. To be honest, take your time ED. Delay if you have to. Just keep the quality of the patch at this caliber.

Uninstall the individual planes and just have flaming cliffs installed, they will all still be there. This happened to me when they did the free preview thing a few months ago.

Gonna give this a shot, makes sense.

I held back giving my 2 cents on the patch until a full 24 hrs later and the there are improvements across the board. Honestly its a small miracle to see such a bump in fps AS SC comes out.

SC is breathtaking and the sim is reminding me why I have given so much money to ED.

The FPS is not as good as 2.5.5 for me but its getting there! This basically got me back 80% the performance I had before! I hope the next patch also shows improvements fps-wise.

Well done!

I do need to test the F-18 campaign which was so badly hit by this plague, but "Strike Fighter" was playable (and even recordable). Still needs work again but wow... Its still very welcomed good news!

I understand perfectly well how DCS is developed...they don't consider ongoing support of their stable build user base to be a priority so their current and chosen development cycle is to continue to build sequential open beta builds - each of which contains cummulatively more and more functionality and features...in the hope that eventually one of them works sufficiently well to be released into the stable branch...

.

Riddle me this Batman. So you want ED to revert code back just so Stable can say they got updated? You want 3rd Party Devs, campaign and mod makers to revert code just so the "majority" can get an update to 2.5.5.......blah blah. Seems like a lot of work and a lot of wasted time. Seems as though that would delay a "real" update to Stable for another 6-8 months. Bru, you just are not listening. I hope they update stable next week, hell tomorrow even, but I have a feeling it won't make you happy or even partially content if they updated in the next five minutes.

As an owner of almost every module, all the maps, and several campaigns, I feel as though ED is offering plenty of support and is trying to fix what could have been an awesome 2.5.6. Feel lucky you have not had to deal with the last few months of playing "What breaks in DCS with this patch?".

As someone else said, you might be better off to uninstall DCS for a few weeks, go camping or fishing, try tantric yoga, whatever floats your boat. Hopefully when ya get done, DCS will be in a better place so as not cause so much stress in your life.

@BIGNEWY

will we then have Huey Multi-Crew? It wasn't mentioned at all since the latest info updated. We somewhat have expected it to be available yesterday...any chance we´ll get it on June 3rd?

BZ on OB 2.5.6.49314

I have voice my criticism of ED's slow and buggy updates in the past. I am here to say BZ on the OB 2.5.6.49314 patch. Is it perfect? Of course not. The program is an early access open beta. This patch, though, fixed a lot bugs, added some aircraft features and added the Super Carrier, all without major game breakers. The patch quality reflects the few weeks additional delay for testing and correcting.

Well i own a whole heap of aircraft, maps & campaigns too (as if that's important)...and I feel as if ED hasn't offered ANY support for the last six months...Oh scratch that I don't FEEL as if ED hasn't offered any support over that period... its a rock solid documented fact they HAVEN'T offered a single scrap of support over that timeline...

Anyway...as has been quite forcibly pointed out...its me that's at fault here...its utterly ridiculous that I should expect any bug-fixes to content in that ridiculously short time frame...

A mere six months is nothing, I just need to suck it up and WAIT longer...but patiently of course...expecting any communication is another unreasonable request isn't it?

Not for you VIP's over in OB land tho' eh...you're already timetabled another release...https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=4330717&postcount=1 which makes the pollyannas suggesting we could see stable update in 2 weeks seem a little bit premature!

I noticed my frame rates got better an update or two ago. Enough with that though, I noticed this one rivet on the hornet that’s in the wrong place...

It'll be 5 months this Saturday, it hasn't been 6 months.

What you haven't explained, unless I've missed it, Birder, is if you want what the "OB Polyannas" have (and yes, I find their complaining to be a bit ridiculous much of the time), why not move to OB until stable gets an update?

This isn't a "gotcha" type question, I'm not setting some sort of debate-trap, it just seems you'd be happier if you could receive those updates now

Along a similar vein, I'm not sure why any of us still engage with your rants...well, it's pretty slow at work for me, so at least I'm getting paid while I respond

On the bright side, it seems reception to the latest patch is generally positive, so the end may be in sight for us on stable
