Mission Ideas

Where do you go to put mission ideas?

In my younger days, yeah playing Operation Flash point, and Resistance I do recall making missions and each would take about four to six months to perfect it. That is all the planning, intro, and make sure all is okay. I would get 4/5 out of 5 stars, out of em (all 4 of em). I did have sleepless weekends and tiring mornings. Scripts, sound files, way-points, triggers. Now, can not find any of those missions online anywhere. And these were flying missions. Now when I try to make a mission, now in DCS I get tired after placing stuff. Did one and it took a week, and DCS would either crash (hang), or I end up on Map (not aircraft) when I try to play it, or stuff not doing their things, or not in the mission, but placed in the editor. Ended up deleting them. I do not have the strength anymore at my age (55) to make these missions. One I have planned, it is make the pilot (player) feel fear, and surprised. Like real combat. "You are not going to have it easy from start to finish. You will see death, and when you get back, you could face it." I never been in combat of any sort in my life, other than in the police field in my younger days. Then moved to electronics tech. But taking knowledge of a soldier, pilot, war, and bringing it to a mission editor. Noticed their is not much single mission downloads. Good kick ass one's. Specially for a A-10c.

One of the only pleasures people have from going through all that pain is excercising their own ideas, which is usually the reason they go through the pain in the first place. Remove the last pleasure from mission making and you've basically destroyed anyone's will to make one. What this will come down to is asking someone to do something for you, even if it doesnt sound like that.

But there's no problem with just emptying your ideas onto a post. Someone might use them.

^ Agree.

Guess it is the only choice for now. Just curious if anyone made a mission like this video 0:30 mark.

. By using Tomahawk cruise missiles from warships, Stealth fighters, bombers, and on "Caucasus region that includes south western Russia and Georgia." map?

In Jane's USAF they did, the Iraq (desert storm) campaign.

I made a fake news story with similar scenes.

As for scenarios that include strikes in the last ten years... yes, every which way I can think of. With dozens of human players too. I can't really imagine too much that hasn't been "done" to some extent. It's usually the engine that stops anything, imagination hasnt been short.

The thing i'm working on these days is already over 500 lines of code, and I started this sim not knowing any Lua. And it's a peacetime thing, because people dont do much of those.

Wow...just that bit looks like a lot of work. The night vision view. Wonder if you got AA guns, just firing into the air, hoping to hit something. That is what I was thinking in the first gulf war. The AA guys were told to just fire into the air (not aiming). Will get lucky.

Was working on a mission like Desert Storm. Day 1: As a A10c (player), Start up, take off, and then flight (waypoints with names), each about 15-20 mins. While flying, Tomahawks/cruise missiles are being fired onto a city (largest on map), and some aircraft's, like Stealth bombers including F117 and other bombing aircrafts. When the A10 gets about the 5 minute mark (0:05 am), the player get to see all that aa guns into the air (like in first gulf war), and bombs exploding (you can hear air raid sirens). The players mission is to engage ground forces (tanks, infantry), on the outside of city for coalition forces to move in from a south location (infantry drops) from Chinooks. Their will be a other locations in progress, but the AI can do that. Their job is to do the clean up. When the mission is done, you are to return to base. When about 1-3 minutes out (just about to land), the base you are about to land on, is under attack (you will hear the air raid siren). Constant air bombing from the enemy (retaliation), (enemy air and ground) and next thing is allied aircraft's jets come zooming in to attack enemy. You are out of ammo, low on fuel, your job is to get out, and fly to the next airbase. That will not be that difficult, but it is a task/challenge. That was my mission idea. If it were to be a campaign. First mission is to fly, escort friendly aircraft's (that been flying for 10 hours) to bases for a war about to happen.

(Mission 2 Briefing: (The enemy) had a date/time to remove it's military, and stop genocide in (city name) and stop advancing or face severe consequences. Well the time is up, and they refuse to. The time has come to take military action. At midnight, the bombings and other military action will start to happen. Soon after that, the President will message to the world of the situation. Your task is to give ground support. Their will be military on the outskirts of the city for our military advances into the city. Come home, land, get ready for next shift.)

I can make little missions, but these ones above, always get me thinking. This is going to take forever, like the missions I did in Operation Flash-point: Resistance. And here this mission, the west own the night. If that took a lot, just imagine someone trying. I do not think anyone can do that now. Unless they have the patience.

If campaign: Operation ?

Mission 1: Escort tiring Pilots to base for future conflict. "Operation: Psychic" (nothing happens). Just an escort. (the thought of "you never know")

Mission 2: 2 Minutes to Midnight (War has arrived)

Mission 3: Fight for airbase back (long, many hours of mission). Mission (attack airbase), return to base, rearm, refuel, return to battle, help ground forces, return to base. Constant explosions, war on, around the airbase. Feel the pain of the real thing.

Mission 4: The push, what is left near airbase.

Mission 5: Clean up, help ground troops (war is slowing down).

Mission 6: Search, clean, patrol. Their is some stuff with ground troops.

Mission 7: Patrol, clean, soon as you reach a way-point, you are told to return to base. Do not engage, enemy has surrendered. President is briefing. After you land, Power down. Campaign is completed. Victory.

Sounds like a great mission. You could build it, test it, play it, fix it, and then upload it as a mission or even as part of a campaign in the User Files section!
