dcs is smoother at 60 fps rather than 40-180 fps fluctuation.

Try hovering the Mi-8 with 40fps, then with 60fps and then with 100+fps. There is a distinct difference tho I admit 60fixed is a fair setting to cover most needs and concerns ( TiR issue for example ).

You don't need so much FPS, you won't be able to feel a difference anyway. You just need a constant 40+ FPS, to run DCS smooth.

People who say there's no difference have obviously never attained higher fps on a high refresh rate monitor. Yes, there most definitely IS a difference, not just ''opinion'' but actual measurable concrete difference. The difference between 30 and 60 is tremendous, the difference between between 60 and 120 is less dramatic but very noticeable in the form of fluidity. Beyond that is even less, but I do not doubt is also noticeable.

Is there a way to completely turn off / disable the in-game frame limiter?

No setting it to say 1500

But, totally turn it off

A command for autoexec.cfg ?

with 2.5.6 if I try to edit the std value in \DCS World\Config\graphics.lua for maxfps (I set it to 60) causes the game to crash during mission loading...

running a repair fixes the crash as it restores the original file.

Anyone else experiencing the same?

Good luck to run DCS with 120 FPS....

You will need NASA computer to deal with the new FPS killer - OB 2.5.6

I will said also, that 40/45+ FPS is pretty enought to play smooth.

Extremely well and consistently works to lock the framerate in MSI Afterburner along with Riva Statics Server.

Similarly good is a new feature directly in the drivers Nvidia.

As mentioned, put options.graphics.maxfps = NN into your Saved Games\Config\autoexec.cfg file.

And in order to easily deal with unusual extensions and extensions in general, unhide the extensions, hidden by default I think ever since Windows XP, probably the single biggest stupid default setting on Windows.
