twistking Posted January 3, 2020 Share Posted January 3, 2020 (edited) Since i'm now a distinguished expert on the Marianas (by skipping through wikipedia and checking it in google maps), i want to propose the expansion of the map further north to include Pagan Island, which is a great island (probably) that also has an airstrip. Therefore it would be great for mission design flexibility and simply for those, who want to go island hopping (carrier hopping?) with a prop plane while trying not to get lost or run out of fuel... It's a tiny land area compared to any other of our maps. The islands on the newsletter already comprise ~850km^2, in order to expand to include more ED would only have to model the equivalent of around 12x12km of land, which compared to what we have now is basically nothing. But yes Pagan island should be a great addition, especially if we can get AM-2 matting or something, to make improvised airfields. Zaku Posted February 6, 2020 Share Posted February 6, 2020 Pagan is pretty much as far north as you can go in the Marianas Islands before everything becomes largely uninhabited. I would really love to see this map eventually stretch up into the Bonin Islands, though. A map stretching from Guam to Iwo Jima is perfect for WW2 and there's a JASDF presence there today. Missing these little islands close to far in direction to north: 1. Anatahan (have also lake inside) 2. Sarigan 3. Zealandia bank 4. Guguan 5. Alamagan 6. Pagan (biggest one from Saipan, with lakes, mountains and airfield) 7. Agrihan 8.
