Tomsk
So one thing is that it looks like the canopy is open in that video ..

MadMonty
Not only the canopy is open, but he is wearing a helmet with headset what reduces the noise significantly for the pilot. The video is shot by a camera without noise reduction. Being in a sim, you have a simulated helmet and therefore noise protection. WynnTTr
So the default noise we hear is already with helmet simulated? I didn't think so cos I've seen alot of GoPro YouTube of in cockpit footage and while it does sound like in game that's the GoPro mic picking up sound without a helmet. I would have figured with helmet it would be even more reduced and muffled.
Greyman
There is a setting in DCS to simulate the muffling effects of wearing a helmet.

purpi
What I appreciate in this boot video of this f16 is the time to turn on the MFD, notice that they take longer compared to the simulated in the Viper, the MFDs start in much less time. Scofflaw
Most jet engines are painfully loud in person, especially when you stand close. Not sure I'd want them to be just as loud in game. run come save me

Yep, agree. No one would want that, there is a reason we are required to wear double ear protection when around aircraft.
