[REPORTED]Cannot place unit of USAF Aggressor or Insurgent Coalition

Recommended Posts

in this downgraded multiplayer mission:

probably created with 2.5.2 ob u4

downgraded with 2.5.2 ob u6hotfix1 (remove all units, neutral to all airbases with unlimited resources)

In freshly created missions I can place J-11A to both China and USAF aggressors side to any desired coalition color,

BUT

in this coalition arragement the red Chinese showing blue on the map as under the name of another country, the unit type also modified.

But in unit list the J-11A not change. In this list these misbehaving items are not deleteable by DEL key.

When you save this mess, China assets completely missing from the saved mission.

Via mission editor China is lost from this section

["name"] = "red",

["country"] =

{

from the original problematic mission, there only 6 countries listed of the 7 reds.

And this loss is permanent during new saves.

I've encountered the same problem several times - seems to be a mismatch from mission editor.

I opened your "mission" (no extension) file in notepad++ and saw what I had been struggling with.

I searched for "coalitions". Under red coalition, line 260 reads [3] = 27 << this is correct

Now take a look at lines 454-455:

["id"] = 19, (should've been 27)

["name"] = "South Ossetia" (should've been "China")

I just started making a wwii mission on Normandy map...and sort of same thing happened. I selected Norway as one of the allied countries, moved Italy to neutral (since I would use Italian Social Republic), as well as doing some other sorting.

Trying to place norwergian units, however...nope, same problem as I had had with chinese. So, I opened the mission file again...and coalitions are mucked up again. Maybe a mismatch between the tables where you choose coalitions when starting to build a mission, and the table the mission editor looks up?

the bug extendedly alive in 2.5.3.23225

No mods involved to create this messy mission:

Blue side 32 country -> 27 usable (unusable: 69=Italian soc. rep., 36=Japan, 22=Switzerland, 66=Third Reich, 7=USAF Aggressors)

Red side 9 country -> 6 usable (unusable: 27=China, 17=Insugents, 68=USSR)

A more intelligent mission resave could easily correct this. Or a more intelligent first unit creator procedure!

coalition declaration (without neutrals):

Cannot place unit of USAF Aggressor or Insurgent Coalition

I'm currently building a mission that requires USAF Aggressors and Insurgents as Red Coalition. I've assigned my coalitions correctly upon creating the new mission file, and I'm unable to place any object with the coalition of USAF Aggressors. I've also tried placing an object down as another Red coalition, like Russia, and changing the unit's country to USAF Aggressors, but it reverts back to Russia.

When placing a new object down as USAF Aggressors or Insurgents, no object is placed and the object button used on the left deselects as if an object was placed. I've checked the unit list to see if it's getting placed somewhere weird but it's not placed at all.

I'm on DCS Openbeta 2.5.5.36986.

I've attached my mission file I'm working on to see if it's related to the mission file itself

Hi welcome to the forum.

I have just tried mine and it seems ok.

Is the aggressors and insurgents in a blue or red coalition?

Please try again and attach your dcs.log here after your attempt we may find some clues.

dcs.log can be found in your saved games DCS folder.

BIGNEWY try with the first attached mission, its corrupted via editor

The same rare error since 2018 july: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=215146

(Unable to place chinese assets) and one more example

There are red Russian units in the attached mission, but clearly only USAF aggressors and Insurgent on red side by declaration.

The placed true red units revert back to USA. (edit: Russia in the blue side by declaration! 10 blue in declaration, 27 in implementation!)

coalition declaration (This showed in briefing):

        ["red"] =
       {
           [1] = 17,
           [2] = 7,
       }, -- end of ["red"]

coalition implementation:

        ["red"] =
       {
           ["bullseye"] =
           {
               ["y"] = 371700,

Any idea why this happened with a new mission created?

I could see this happening if the coalitions were edited after mission creation, but I don't understand how the coalitions got corrupted in the mission I've attached above.

The first idea of ED is the Su-57 and F-22 mod in your log, but this is accusation.

The other 2 mission examples in the sister thread came without any mods installed. (our VHUNAF leader's installation)

The XML like "mission" text file generator can suffer from design failure,

the double country assignment can be corrupt, and corrupting sometimes.

The corrupt state constant when new saves done.

Reproduction steps

and the weakness of country assignment.

0. remove any mods

1. start DCS fresh

2. me/new mission, select modern coalition preset

In flyboy068's case the modern preset was in the implementation

3. not save the mission

4. new mission, choose modern coalition preset

by left and right arrow keys move all red and blue to neutrals

5. fyi, now preset cahange to custom

6. by arrow keys move desired countries to blue and red

red: insurgents+usaf aggressors

7. do not save custom preset!!!

8. click to ok!!!

9. mission created with messy coalitions

10. open briefing and read the coalitions: set to NOT by hand aligned and not saved custom, but the modern preset is visible

11. save messy mission

12. exit to main menu

12. me/load misson, the latest

13. open briefing and read the coalitions: set to the hand aligned! and NOT the modern preset

14. try to place an aircraft to usaf aggressors, immediately change to blue

FYI

The bug behaving the same manner in 1.5.8, so very old bug.

I would like to see a hurry in the fixing.

edit: a sad user from 2018 january: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=200841 (Coalition selection not working correctly?) about Ukraine and DCS color blindness

You need to click save for the coalition preset to work

I will speak to the team about this.

Previously unknown countries in A/C dropdown list

And this similar issue: The attached mission behaving abundantly to countries for aircraft placement (not for wehicles, ships, and statics),

other than red and blue countries listed, with red and blue the sum is 37

39 in the mission are the neutrals and only declaration in mission text file (few to 2.5.5 database)

5 red

3 blue

coalitions:

selectable for a/c list:

the experimental neutral coalition feature is off on tested machines

remark: maybe this mission editing started in 1.2 series

List showing previously unknown: what not red not blue and not neutral

This old mission

flagpolesStandsForeverBug.miz (flagpole problem is fixed now):

https://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=178851&d=1518392560

is created with 2.5.0.14138.317

And there are no Cuba and South Africa in the neurtal coalition declaration list,

therefore when opened with the current version for

fixed wing aircraft and helo placement these new countries listed. (not listed for ships and wehicles and statics)

((Placement of Cuban and South African units is unsuccessful.))

So this 2 last post can be separated from OK button for Modern Coalition preset corruption thread.

EDIT: Importing from 1.5.8 also Cuba and South Africa is the missing ingredient
