Old method in spoiler below:

Spoiler

Hello all,

For those seeing stutter

We added a config option

C:\Users\yourname\Saved Games\DCS\Config

If you do not have a autoexec.cfg create on using notepad++ or use the one linked below

autoexec.cfg:

no_device_hotplug = true

If applied, dcs.log should say "Device hotplug disabled!".

This will disable rescanning of input devices in case of hotplug events.

Please let us know if it helps.

Could you explain why this could cause stutter?

Could you explain why this could cause stutter?

Hi!

Thank you for an excellent investigation! Highly appreciated!

There's a high probability that dashost issue is related to the input hotplug functionality of DCS.

I've added a config option to the next OpenBeta.

autoexec.cfg:

no_device_hotplug = true

If applied, dcs.log should say "Device hotplug disabled!".

This will disable rescanning of input devices in case of hotplug events.

We'll see if this helps.

I think it's probably best to disable Link 16 in my "smart" refrigerator... just in case.

I noticed the processes in my rig's Task Manager but they never caused any spikes/stutter. Oh... I dumbed down my TV and it's not as smart as it wanted to be.

Fingers crossed this will also fix the ”trackir unplugged” issue that has been going on for years.

That would be awesome.

DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!

I totally love the hotplug feature. Everyone who tried to load up a TARGET script while Teamspeak (or probably Discord, if it has the same issue) is running sure knows why. And I can leave my wireless SIXAXIS off until I fly a plane that needs the extra controls.

But I will try disabling this to see if I get my fps back that I lost when the Tomcat appeard. That was a huge loss, roughly 60%. Never got that back... getting that back is more important to me than anything.

Edit: Is there a way to disable screenshots completely? Unmapping the key doesn't work, it's hard coded somewhere. Asking since the screenshot taking does cast a stutter as well and I use Fraps for this to create bmp screenshots (no CPU time needed to convert whatsoever).

I might try changing the DCS shots to bmp as well though just to see if that kills the "PrintScreen stutter".

I do not see any stutters except for the micro stutters from TrackIR; however, I thought I would give this a try to see what it would do. For me, it significantly increased the number of large stutters I experienced. I have since deleted the .cfg file and all back to normal. It did not work for me but hopefully it benefits others.

I flew MP for over 1.5 hrs. with different servers. The autoexec.cfg not only smoothed out my Rift performance but it also sped up the MP load times, from joining server to rolling, by 10-15 times faster.

I haven't deleted the 2 shader folders a lot of people talk about...should I?

What are hotplug events?

as a matter of habit, I always do with any patch/update. Doesn't hurt, and can only help. ;)

Interesting since my last post I deleted the folders and found I lost the smoothness. What I noticed was in the original folders there were hundreds of files but in the newly built folders there were much less.

I reversed what I did and all went back to being smooth again...go figuredoh.gif

wow. that is unexpected. happy it worked for you, but this is not how it's suppose to work. the devs should definitely take a closer look at that.
