Do your menus flicker in VR mode?

It can be if you buy it through Steam. No if you buy it direct from the developers.

Mine is not Steam version. But I do use Steam VR since I have the Reverb G2.

Sorry, that's what I meant. It uses SteamVR.  I'm pretty sure the flashing loading issue is a SteamVR/WMR thing that'll happen with any non Steam software.  That's how I see it anyway.

Reverb 2

happens to me on:

  • the loading screens (intermittent coming and going a couple of times during loading screen)
  • when bringing up a menu item when rearming. will flicker and "lock" for a second before bringing up the picker list. Will happen again if switching into a new picker list. e.i AA, AG, Bombs, etc.
  • for about 5 seconds after landing into the role selection page of a multiplayer server.

I have not played with any settings for VR in WMR, steamVR, or DCS. Maybe a solution lies in there somewhere. Aside from that the Reverb2 is F***ING amazing for me. can read all MFDs without leading forward even an inch.

Flickering loading for sure. What's most annoying is flickering/stutter trying to navigate the drop down menus while selecting weapons loadouts.

Rift CV1 no flickering during loading screens.

Reverb G2... mind numbing flickering during loading. Please fix.

I'll also add that DCS is the only program I run with the G2 that has this problem.

+1

Would an easy fix be that ED allowed an option to turn loading screen graphics go full black? Not nice but perhaps effective till there's a real fix in WMR.

no problems with text in menus though

Sounds like you got something else going on then.

As far as flickering for the short time it is loading, I just close my eyes.

Turns out is a power issue with coming from C direct from the RTX2080 card to placing it on the 3.1 USB PCIE, Express Slot seems to me not enough power is goin g to the headset.

I get bluescreen in the head set when turn on DCS World it seems to be only DCS with this issue ATM.

The flickering(looks like an 'interlaced flickering') on the loading screen only happens on my Reverb G2 for me. On the Index and Pimax the flickering does not occur.

I beleive the reverb must employ some sort of interlaced method of inter frame smoothing, because it also  seems smoother at the same frame rate than the other two headsets.

It's a WMR (most headsets) thing, not just the G2

Not strictly correct. If you run MSFS with SteamVR as the OpenXR client rather than the MS default, you do see some.

Isn't this due to WMR not being native VR to DCS? That's why it doesn't happen in the Rift, right?

Not sure, it didn’t happen with my Vive Pro or Valve Index, and they weren’t native to DCS either.

You dont need SteamVR for Reverb and WMR. I don't see any need to use SteamVR for MSFS.

All settings you have in OpenXR Developer Tool.

Didn’t say you did, just making the point that it’s not just DCS - as you were suggesting - as if you do use SteamVR for OpenXR client you see some flickering in loading menus in MSFS.
As an aside, there are good reasons for using SteamVR for OpenXR, and they include being able to use fpsVR in MSFS.
still, we are getting OT for a DCS forum.

You have to download the OpenXR dev tool from the MS store.
