Harker
I think the carrier turns on the lights only at night (I'm not sure if it does in bad weather as well). Appleonastick
Carriers don't really deploy much lighting at night. The pilot's rely on their instruments, comms and on the meatball only. Appleonastick
yea only issue now not getting the landing call when landing on the stennis That indeed sucks. Bankler
That indeed sucks. But irl the carrier isn't lit up like a christmas tree. They want to remain undetected. Depends on how you usually dress your christmas tree. The lights are very much visible at least when you're getting somewhat close. With the lights turned off in DCS, the runway is not visible like it is IRL. Bankler's CASE 1 Recovery Trainer
Subferro
Anyone figured out a workaround to this? Like putting an AI unit taking off/landing at roughly the same time as the player? Desperately needs a hotfix to make night missions feasible again...
Phantom453
Is this fixed yet? I just tried the Case III landing mission and cannot seem to get the carrier's landing lights lights to come on. Only the superstructure and island lights seem to be on and they a rather dull. I call the carrier for inbound on 127.5 MHz and get the normal response, but the lights still don't seem to be coming on at night? Any advice/ help would be appreciated. Tusker
Yup, I do a Request to Land call and get nothing. I read someplace that the RtL call inside of 5.5 miles will trigger the lights. I’ve been mindful of that, and still no lights. Tried to land with NVGs, and that’s no fun. Sort of sucks because I’ve been working hard at night opns. I’m comfortable with airfield departures and aerial refueling, but nighttime carrier recoveries are still missing. Thoughts?
