Correct Variant-Specific NATOPS EM Diagrams for F-14B

The F-14B NATOPS manual ("NAVAIR 01-F14AAP-1") does not have EM diagrams. It says on the front page that "THIS PUBLICATION IS INCOMPLETE WITHOUT NAVAIR 01-F14AAP-1.1 AND NAVAIR 01-F14AAP-1A".

 

When I look at "NAVAIR 01-F14AAP-1.1", however, the title pages says that this applies to the "F-14A(PLUS) AND F-14D". NOT the F-14B. Why is that? Does this mean that the EM diagrams, and indeed the rest of the manual, do not apply to our F-14B being modeled here? Are there multiple versions of "NAVAIR 01-F14AAP-1.1"?

The F-14A Plus is now known as the F-14B, due, I believe, to problems with the Navy's computers in accepting the A+ designation.

On May 1, 1991, the Navy decided to redesignate the F-14A(Plus) as F-14B, using the same designation as that of the stillborn F401-powered aircraft of 1973. A total of 38 F-14Bs were newly built from scratch, and 32 additional F-14Bs were produced by conversion from existing F-14A airframes.

I am confused about what version of the F-14 is in DCS... It is lacking DTFO described in the F-14B natops from 1991. Some of the systems match the A but at the same time it lacks the vain glove, etc making it a B.

 

The EM diagram should work well as the engines are the same. I have tested the A plus EM diagrams and they work well enough.

It is the B version. The EIG will be replaced latest when the A comes out (note it is an early access placeholder atm). One of the problems with F14s is that almost every single aircraft was unique. This means that we found D versions that still had systems native to the A and so on, often it was a "patch work" and the difficulty was to decide on which one to focus as NATOPs can also contradict itself by often just listing all possible variants for a single system, etc. Our B is a mid nineties version, however I am not 100% sure if DFTO was only in those that have been upgraded later on with Sparrowhawk, DFCS and similar, Naquaii will be best to answer that question, but I don't think that early B versions, that haven't been further upgraded, like ours, had DFTO. We decided against DFCS considering how late the system was introduced.

Are there plans to incorporate DFCS on the B and leave the A to be more of the raw original product? Things like DTFO, LSRI (THIS!), WRS and LSXC would really makes the B feel complete (IMO).

 

Currently running the FCF checks things just don't match up with the NATOPS, I planned on releasing a full report with all the mismatches and bugs I have compiled but without know exactly what NATOPS the DCS F-14B is based on I cant complete my checks.
