Addition of a server-setting "spectators-slot-selection menu-only"

D4n

Recommended Posts

Currently, everytime after a player gets shot down (player died in aircraft), his view position stays where he was shot and he can look around freely (and spot other players in PvP servers for example...). Please add a setting that he is forced back to the slot selection screen directly after getting shot down.

Urgent issue, official BlueFlag Persian Gulf tour is about to start in 2 days... We want a realistic experience, ED. [ https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=4018133#post4018133 ]

To be fair, if you want a realistic experience, kicking the guy back to the F10 map wouldn't be the right option to begin with. Just hook into Slmod and kick him off the server. And speaking of realistic, having a server option implemented in two days is about as far from realistic as wishlist items go. ;)

Why the h... should F10 kick not be realistic??? You don't see hostiles NOR friendlies on that map (at least on the realistic BlueFlag servers) Yes, unlikely to be added in 2 days, but hopefully for next week's patch or week after.

Because you can't really study maps when you're dead.

Oh, and two weeks is just as unrealistic as two days, even if it was a one-sprint thing, which it most likely isn't.

No, that was a different problem, Kang. the TIME it took was too fast. Needs a delay, for wreck to not insta-vanishing before crashing into the ground.

This would not be good if you have CA enabled as spectators are able to see ALL unit waypoints on the map...even enemy ones. Would ruin competitive servers with CA.

I would, however, be down for sending them back to slot selection menu, not the F10 map

Use WHAT with caution? The F10 map wouldn't show any unit... only map markers. Stationary free-turning view definitely IS super streamsniping-suitable for the team of the one that was shot...

Lolno, it really isn't — that would be a ridiculous waste of manpower for something that reveals very little in a tiny tiny radius, and which could already be communicated freely by the person actually hanging from the chute.

Until the issue shown in the attached image is fixed, I do not agree with the concept of forcing people to the f10 map as a spectator when shot down. If you look at the attached image, spectators are able to see way points of all ground units on the move as white...both friendly and enemy.

The F10 map wouldn't show any unit... only map markers....

If someone is shot down, they could just study the map, and go kill enemy ground units based on the visible waypoints....which will kill Combined Arms servers as teams would not be able to use any form of grand strategy. All their units would be plainly visible if moving in any form.

However, I would support forcing people back to the slot selection menu.

Still no such setting in "Advanced" server settings menu. This issue is of very high importance for realistic PvP multiplayer, ED.

Are you actually expecting them to drop everything and work on daniel's wishlist????

There is already a system in place in MP to kick people back to spectators. This is very very low priority.

Iirc they stated they have ~150 employees, suuurely a few of them are responsible to read the wishlist-threads and forward important realism-multiplayer issues which are easy-to-implement to one or two programmers who then start working on it. (after all DCS is all about realism as far as it's possible)

150??? I highly doubt that. where did you ever get that number? I think the number is under 50.

Even then there would probably only be a dozen actual programmers.

forward important realism-multiplayer issues which are easy-to-implement to one or two programmers who then start working on it.

So taking them away from actually fixing bugs or finishing EA modules?? It is NEVER as easy as you make it out to be.

Again, most MP server have their own way to kick players after death

ok, 125 staff.

either way, no reason to take a single person from any other task for some wishlist requests that have an easy work around (kick to spectators ) for now.

The F16 needs a lot of love, the F18 currently can't release bombs/gbus, not to mention what they are also working on (Dynamic campaign, missile /radar overhaul, etc etc) and other much much, more important pressing things.

You've been told multiple times from ED and 3rd party to stop giving them time deadlines and stop expecting to get your requests fulfilled right away as if this is some sort of drive thru where people get served one at a time in order.
