Would it be possible for ED to quickly add some logging fucntionality to LOMAC for 1.1?

What I mean is this ...

Currently, in MP, the server records a multiplay.txt.

Unfortunately it only records air to air things, and it doesn't do it -too- well, either.

Could you possibly make it record ground attacks as well, noting hits with ordnance on buildings and building destruction/damage in general, and especially mission goal destruction/damage?

Could you also put in some additional information in the log, such as which side each mentioned object is on (obviously, buildings will be /neutral/ unless designated as being a goal for a particular side, for example) ... this I ask because on some servers people use the same aircraft on both sides, so you have Su-27's firing on Su-27's and you don't know who's who in the log. A simple (RED) or (BLUE) tag following the AC name would suffice.

In addition, logins/logouts form the game woudl also be appreciated.

Also, a small change tot he scoring system: Currently, if one exits the game a loss is recorded for them, and their side. Could this please be altered so that if one lands on a friendly base, parks and shuts down engines they do not sufffer a loss? This would make the in-server kill counts in the debriefing a little more accurate.

Thanks!

It's good idea.

Unfortunately very short time remains and I cannot promise, what it we shall make in it 1.1.

Can you present a desirable example of log line?

OK

Can present a desirable log line

This is time when the player has connected and disconnected?

We will think about it.

Thanks for the reply Chizh! (By the way, how do you pronounce that?)

Let me see if I have a handy mplog here so that I can present how it is now (for clarity) and an example of what I would like to suggest.

Okay, an example from the Current MPLOG:

01/12:23:42 "AMVI_Asso"(Su-27) kill "RM_Nutcase_303r"(F-15C) by R-27ER
01/12:23:47 "RM_Nutcase_303r"(F-15C) kill "xrust"(Su-27) by AIM-120
01/12:23:49 "RM_Nutcase_303r"(F-15C) crash
01/12:23:57 "xrust"(Su-27) eject
01/12:24:12 "xrust"(Su-27) crash
01/12:26:20 "Pool-Shark"(F-15C) kill "Pilot1"(IL-76MD) by AIM-120
01/12:29:52 "Pool-Shark"(F-15C) land
01/12:29:52 "Pool-Shark"(F-15C) land
01/12:30:18 "Pool-Shark"(F-15C) crash
01/12:35:49 "AMVI_Asso"(Su-27) kill "251stSparko"(F-15C) by R-27ET
01/12:36:17 "251stSparko"(F-15C) eject
01/12:36:23 "251stSparko"(F-15C) crash

Let us take the first line,

01/12:23:42 "AMVI_Asso"(Su-27) kill "RM_Nutcase_303r"(F-15C) by R-27ER

This could be better presented as,

01/12:23:42 RED "AMVI_Asso"(Su-27) kill BLUE "RM_Nutcase_303r"(F-15C) by R-27ER

In this very simple way we can extract kilsl and deaths from the mplog file even if the server count isn't accurate because of the quitting issue, for example.

An additional example, relating to ground targets:

01/12:23:42 BLUE "GGTharos"(A-10) damage RED "T-80" by Mk82
01/12:23:43 BLUE "GGTharos"(A-10) kill RED "T-80" by Mk82
01/12:23:42 BLUE "GGTharos"(A-10) complete BLUE GOAL "Kill T-80 Column"

A similar aproach could be used for buildings, with no identification for buildings that are not marked as targets or goals (you jsut hit a building. Big deal, right?)

But, consider this example also ... I have a target that is a building among a number of buildings which I do not want to be hit ...

01/12:23:42 BLUE "GGTharos"(A-10) damage BUILDING "GOAL-1" by Mk84
01/12:23:43 BLUE "GGTharos"(A-10) kill BUILDING "GOAL-1" by Mk84
01/12:23:42 BLUE "GGTharos"(A-10) damage BUILDING "GOAL-2" by Mk84
01/12:23:43 BLUE "GGTharos"(A-10) kill BUILDING "GOAL-2" by Mk84
01/12:23:42 BLUE "GGTharos"(A-10) complete BLUE GOAL "Enemy HQ"(GOAL-1)
01/12:23:42 BLUE "GGTharos"(A-10) fail BLUE GOAL "Civillian Buildings"(GOAL-2)

In this case the GOAL-2 buildings are set to 'must survive' for example.

This is time when the player has connected and disconnected?

Yes :). If this is in the log, it sometimes helps us either diagnose problems or catch cheaters.

Thanks for considering this! :)

Edit: Almost forgot!

01/12:29:52 "Pool-Shark"(F-15C) land

This could be better presented as:

01/12:29:52 BLUE "Pool-Shark"(F-15C) land at BLUE Saki

01/12:29:52 BLUE "Pool-Shark"(F-15C) land at NEUTRAL Simferopol

01/12:29:52 BLUE "Pool-Shark"(F-15C) land at RED Kerch

We know that airports can be turned red/blue/neutral by assigning a flight to start from them (or neutral if no flight) and I would further suggest that aircraft are not able to refuel and rearm at any abse but a friendly one.

Perhaps for the future, it would be possible to change airbase allegiance with a ground assault (tanks overruning the airport and making it friendly) which could make for some very interesting online dynamic battles :)

Eg: If a base is neutral, and BLUE armor is present within 2km, it becomes BLUE.

If a base is BLUE, but all BLUE units are destroyed and there is RED armor now present within 2km (may have to be 3-4 KM because the runways are long) the base becomes RED.

If There are two forces present at the same time, the base retains its original allegiance until one of the fighting sides wins.

A question: Is it still possible to drop a heavy bomb from 30m altitude without destroying oneself?

Hey hold on a second. Isnt that idea from the campaign of the sim/game Eurofighter Typhoon?

I dont think we need to put allegieance between ground units and airfields. Just let the RED and BLUE. (lol, ok ok, what you said GG on the end of the post.)

Maybe, I never played it - it jsut seemed liek a logical thing that could be added to make things more interesting. The reason why I propose an 'allegiance' for an airfield is that it will not permit you to refuel/re-arm unless its a friendly airfield (ie. your side). This neatly deals with people landing on any airfield they want to refuel when the mission designer doesn't intend it without littering the map with SAMs and tanks.

Hey, since we're throwing ideas around, one just came to me :) This one will probably require too much work to make it into 1.1, but it may be a good workaround for a fully persistent campaign.

If we could save the state of a mission when ending it, and import it into the editor, this would provide a means of running a persistent campaign manually. The campaign manager could then change the waypoints of AI units, and perhaps add reinforcements, but keep the general state of the universe as it was when the players last left it. Imho this would be a big improvement on the tools available today, especially for online games that do not currently have any type of campaign support.
