Mission 7 Rolex 6:20 Trigger Not Working. Help

Recommended Posts

Pretty good campaing with the M2k Red Flag....on mission 7 however, I CANNOT for the life of me get the trigger to work at way point 2 which I am supposed to fly to by 620am. I book it, get there ontime and at 13,000 feet as per the mission....but it doesn't let me advance to the next part of the mission and move on to the rocket attacks etc.

Here is a link to the youtube video I'm trying to copy that I can't even get to work -

Please help. Thank you!

Thank you sir. I really don't get what I'm not doing to hit the trigger? Maybe I need to be grouped up closer with my wingmen first....or....fly at a certain altitude or? hmmmm

This is all that's holding me up from continuing.

OK, I've flown it and I confirm that it didn't work - but I don't think I heard Banshee 2 flight getting in formation, I will try again and go a bit slower, but make sure that everyone catches up (I was 5 minutes early this time! - but you NEED to wait for all three flights to get in formation with you, go through briefing and only then the triggers will work). Still, all this TBC, I will try again later.

I have a Rift S also.

Ok, to confirm, I make sure eveyrone "catches up" right after take off? Isn't it time consuming to let everyone catch up and then try to make it by 20?

I used to let the INS compute before I started up and I think that is what slows me down too much. That part isn't really in the simulation I believe, so I can just "power up" and continue pre flight and take off while INS finalizes right?

Thank you!

Yeah, don't wait with startup for the INS - in real life that is what they do, but you can run your engine. Take off right after the F-16s and keep around 250-270 knots until you hear Banshee join up. Then you will start the brieifing and go to MIL power. I made it for 06:19 yesterday (for the first time, BTW, alwasy was at 06:21). Enjoy!

Here is what i do and have done 5 times in a row (never got passed the mission as i completely suck at flying in the dark :megalol::megalol: )

Hit bat and start the INS before the radio check, let it finish, then im never above 250 until everyone catches up, speed up to 390-400 when they do and you should make it there in time.

Hey Baltic, I have a question to ask you that is a bit off topic. I'd of directly messaged you but perhaps some others may provide some perspective. And it is through your excellent campaign that I have come across this issue so perhaps you can be patient and try and help me and others with this :

Here is an example of a night playing ED. Get VR, Voice attack, x52, and my Volair Setup all ready. By the time I launch your excellent campaign 10 minutes has gone by. Power up the Mirage, input INS, take off, i'm about 25 minutes in. Cruise over to waypoint 1 and it is 45 min. Head to the "core" of whatever mission it is and then and frequently 1.5 hours have gone by. Then, suddenly, I get shot down. Perfect. I want it realistic.

But here's the problem. To do all that AGAIN is not exactly encouraging. It takes quite some time. I love ED for realism....but time is also a reality and we need a middle ground.

I own my own business and have free time. I can, if I'd like, spend hours in ED. Still, I have to make best use of my time for kids, family, dinners, events etc.

What advice would you have? I truly wish there was a save mid mission feature. This is the single reason why I don't log into ED as much as I'd like to. I spend money on these campaigns and have many aircraft, but the time needed to fly missions again and again to succeed...hit triggers, deal with dying and trying again, is extreme.

Is there any solution you can think of for this? Watching tracks and fast forwarding to then "take over" is tedious and doesn't even always work. My god they need a save feature. Please share any thoughts or solutions.

To add to my comment above....it is a bit frustrating that I've done this mission 7 times now. Probably about 7 hours. I'm doing EXACTLY what you are saying now. and it worked. Thank you! Waited for Banshee to tell me he's saddled up. We are all joined. Check on map to make sure we are all joined. I easily make it there (by doing INS first and then just starting the take off process) by 6:18.

So today I was able to get the trigger hitting with your help. Then I just went in for my attack run and, understandably cause it happens, was shot down. To my point in the post above....not exactly thrilled to try this entire process all over yet again. Hope there is some solution out there for mission save or something....anything..... ; /

@redmantab i finally managed to get passed this mission and im a mediocre pilot at best :music_whistling:

You can try this:

See you got to the ROLEX down so wont go trough that.

Head towards wp3 and some bla bla bla radio stuff, flares over target ect.

Now i just went in an orbit around the target area, sending Banshee (??) in first to take out AAA, then Chevy 7, be patient, wait for them to finish and get BDA, when they do send in Chevy 8 for target #2, same thing, be patient.

While this is going on you will get locked by enemy aircraft from time to time, ignore them, your AI will deal with them.

By the time its your turn there wont be much left, maybe 3-4 trucks.

Hope this helps and that i made it understandable with my silly English skills :D

Good Luck

Hey redmantab - I know how you feel, trust me. Imagine how many times I had to fly each mission to fine - tune timings, triggers etc... or see the AI not behaving how I wanted her to. My advice for this mission is exactly the same as JanK’s: use your package and engage only when it is safe to do. Just watch out not to over-fixate on the target and crash! I know that for campaign like this it would be awesome to have a save game feature...

Also, as for your previous questions: I do have an idea how to solve it and will test it with the A-10C Iron Flag (where missions are really LONG). I will branch the campaign in various moments and give players F10 option to choose whether they want to "save" or not. If they do and they leave the mission, the campaign will load version of the mission starting at that exact moment. If it works well, I can retrofit it into the Red Flag.

Wow. This is beyond fascinating and pretty encouraging. I'm glad to see you relate, so many here (understandably) are purists who say that would cheapen the experience with diminished realism. The fact is, it just takes too many hours to enjoy campaigns and all of the multiple attempts they require.

All that being said, I'm hoping that I read into something you said and it can be a general solution for all modes of DCS? Would it be possible to somehow create something we all can use for your campaigns but also for DCS in general that would allow saving in missions I generate, are shared from the community etc? Basically, a save feature that is HUGELY needed for all of DCS and the time involved?

Thank you for taking my questions seriously and your replies.

Thank you! I've moved on through the mission and am now on to the next. This was helpful. In the next mission, I somehow crashed in formation into one of my wingmen....I'm in VR making adjustments lol. Anyway, it was yet another example of having to spend another 30 minutes of time just to get back to the same point and my greater message of needing some sort of save feature in general.

Cheers.

Glad to hear you get passed it :)

Stick with it, if it can be done (save feature) i'm sure baltic will make it put it in for us n00bs :joystick:

I actually bought the m2000c just because of this campaign after i played his F15 Georgian war (Highly recommended).

Will attempt to learn the A-10c next so i can try Enemy Within :helpsmilie::megalol:

  • 2 months later...

Today i have tried the mission 3 times, but was unable to get the package in formation together.

They just fly directly to their orbit positions after takeoff, messing up the trigger at WP2.

I'm running Open Beta (2.5.5.34108 ).

Here is a track of my last attempt, showing this behaviour: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1c4A8NIpqlhSEq-NBfpNPx_f1Tj_FpLEC

Is something broken in the AI?

Is something broken in the AI?

I tried looking into this for a couple of minutes, and by comparing mission 7 to mission 6 (working as expected) i've found this difference:

Mission 6: AI has WP1 at truck stop and said WP has the Follow task in it

Mission 7: AI has WP1 at orbit point, the Follow task is set in the starting point (WP0)

Maybe something in the way AI process priorities has changed and it just ignores the follow at WP0 now?
