If I remember correctly it was done by a drone, not possible to do this with human control...

I looked it up again and you are right, it was made by a Growler EA-18G using digitally-mapped flight.

 

So not a drone but not stick flying either it seems.

Of course anybody can do that, just not as geometrically perfect as the pictures showed. Then again you maybe right I am probably projecting my own ineptitude.
