New Email re order number two.

"Your order is being prepared and will ship shortly".

HP site says they are awaiting stock.

Thank Christ for that. Typical of my luck, I always have to work harder than the next guy to get the same result.

I'd much rather be lucky than good, but that's the hand I have been dealt.

It's character building....

Just need the first order pre approval lifted so I can get access to my cash again.

Since nothing changed, I'm guessing someone hit the wrong button at HP when processing the first order.

I'm from Czech Republic and I placed my order directly on HP market (hpmarket.cz) at the end of May as soon as it was no longer sold out. I received the call from the HP that my headset will be delivered at the end of June. The price for Pro version is 14,999 CZK incl. taxes (576 EUR / 641 USD according to local exchange rate).

Not bad.

Yes, me neither. His earlier videos were ok so I tried and lasted 17 mins but still didn't hear anything even remotely relevant.

There is a very high correlation between video length and youtube ad revenue apparently. But as we all know, correlation does not imply causation. :D

Yeah, that one was pretty bad, and seemed to be more about begging for donations. I fast-forwarded a few times and it looked like he was just comparing physical features on cold units. Any of us can do that by looking at pictures and spec sheets. He has had some good reviews recently with the Reverb and testing in flight sims though.

Guys, that video was a live stream comparison, not a review. He was dealing with a whole bunch of on screen messages during the broadcast whilst telling us about his experience and opinion based on his usage of the 3 devices.

In addition, there is a timing schedule in the description, so you can skip to whatever section you want.

He is a good guy, and should be encouraged, not criticised here.

Criticism can be a good thing too and should be taken as a genuine feedback from random viewers in this case.

I must admit that sometimes his videos are a bit boring but now that you mention it, it's always his live streams that I skip. He should probably focus on making content to be uploaded directly to his channel as the live streams are not his forte.

Yeah I am really interested to see what kind of performance in VR one can get in DCS with the higher resolution of the Reverb.

I think most people that plan on getting the Reverb have 2080Ti's. If the one person on Reddit said the 2080ti can barely hold 60 fps with all settings on the lowest in DCS, I don't have too much hope for the Reverb.

Which is why I'm holding off on waiting for people to get it and try it out. I'd like to upgrade from my Odyssey but I dunno if the Rift S is a big enough upgrade if the Reverb pans out to be a no go.

Unless I am missing something here (entirely possible), what are you guys going to be powering the Reverb with? Even a 2080 Ti is going to groan under the load (even with the supposed 50% increase coming to DCS). You will have to turn all the settings way down to have decent framerates above 30ish.
What is side effect or symptoms of getting 30 and below fps. My system only get around 17-30 fps depending on the situation.

I still am able to enjoy the VR on a medium to low settings. No low latency or stuttering here.

Using odyssey +.

No sure what card you have but with a 1080ti I can have everything high except shadows and PD of 1.5 and last time I measured fps I got above 45 at low altitude and much higher obviously flying higher, at least on caucus. You may be able to bump up some of your settings depending on the card.

Ah ok yea that is pretty good for the 1060. I'm using 32gb of ram which seems to help out a bit. I've held off on flying for a long time now because I've been excited about a new headset but now it seems like I may not even replace the odyssey if the Reverb performance is bad.

For anyone still apprehensive about performance on the Reverb, I am just reposting this.

Here are the per eye pixels for a Vive that I already use with DCS:

At 100% SteamVR SS you have = 1512*1680 = 2.54 million

At 200% SteamVR SS (or about 1.4 PD in DCS) you have = 2136*2376 = 5.075 million

The Reverb is 2160x2160 = 4.6 million

All figures for one eye, just double for both eyes.

The reason these figures are much higher than the actual Vive resolution is because of internal SS which is necessary to counter edge distortion. With the Reverb, you just get actual pixels instead of super sampling. So why worry about performance? If you look at the video posted here earlier, you can see the guy is playing Reverb at native res without issues. And even if you have a weak GPU, you can just downsample the Reverb to, say, 1800x1800 till you upgrade your GPU or the software gets performance patches. It will still look better than anything else.

Linking proof for the resolution figures form my original post. You can verify this for yourself.
