Yep, that is the only way, IMO, to get everything working correctly every time.

Does shaders mod for VR help with the FPS for the Reverb?

Doesn't help with fps particualrly if you're using motion reprojection, but it does help some people with improved frame times which allows you to up some settings.

Seems to be hardware dependent on whether you see a benefit or not.

I will answer this question like a fighter pilot... It Depends

Mostly on your hardware and expectations and settings.

As @imacken says, in a lot of cases it wont help with total framerates per say if you are using motion reprojection because that will lock you at 45 or 90. I would really recommend every one have motion reprojection enabled ... unless you are doing something with 6Ghz+ and LN2 cooling your CPU and graphics card (humor)...

what it does do is reduce the frametime for GPU and CPU activity which means you get more stable framerates of 45 (which is really what we are all aiming at)... so why bother, there are two reasons:

1) more frames at 45 means less stuttering (however nothing is free, it comes at a cost in time, yours or mine i find myself fiddling a lot with tuning for each release, and some graphical anomalies most of which i think are fixable)

2) with lower frame time i can turn on more graphical features and have less impact, which means the world can look better

Ok, Im starting to get pissed with this reverb and the tracking. Seems like during the day theres no issue, but at night I cant move my head side to side fore to aft, but i can shake my head up and down, left and right. This is ridiculous........I have PLENTY of light in here.

It could be that your light source is flickering, which may interfere with the tracking. Light sources often flicker at the frequency of the power grid (i.e., at 50 or 60 Hz, depending on where you are). This is too fast for most humans to notice, but for the tracking cameras it could be an issue. I think the Oculus software has an option to address this, but I am not aware of a similar feature for WMR headsets. Maybe using another light source (e.g., a portable lamp with a different light source than your room light) may improve or solve it...

LEDs flicker; Im using incandescent light bulbs because Im stone age like that. And yes, its from a lamp that I just bought yesterday specifically just for this.

Ok I did a number of tests to see what the actual problem is, and it turns out that its SteamVR and its version of Windows MRP. Launching from steam at this time of day gives me no side to side or fore-aft movements, but using Windows MRP and not steam (nor their MRP through steam) I have full functional 6dof. From what I see, steam is NOT needed.

What Ive seen that works right now is launching Windows Mixed Reality portal from the start menu and then launching DCS through the DCS updater utility. It automatically starts SteamVR and then the sim launches automatically from there on. Launching SteamVR first and then Windows MRP gives me 2 missing axies. I dont know why this is, but thats what I just learned this evening.

Yes, I agree. The only sure way of getting it all working for me is to put on the headset, get all sorted and synced in Cliff House and then run DCS from Skate’s utility. I do that from inside Cliff House. Always works.

Same thing I do too except I don't have that utility. Haven't had any issues like this assuming I have proper lighting. My desk is also in front of a large window.

You just put the headset on and wait for wmr portal to start up. From within the headset you can use your mouse to open the desktop app and it will pull up your desktop in VR and from there you can double click your dcs shortcut. It will start steam VR too and launch dcs.

When I go into Cliff House, I have a big desktop screen right in front of me, so I just click on Skatezilla's launch icon with my mouse and go!

Has anyone tried creating a nvidia profile for WMR/SteamVr processes? While tuning for Alyx I noticed those other processes uses more VRAM than DCS and has been using GPU times. I ran DCS, open monitor GPU time and VRAM in task manager (steamVR,Compositor, etc.) I then created Nvidia profile for each and set all setting to off or performance. I figure those uses GPU they don’t need the filters again when they’ve already get them from DCS processes.

It may have been placebo effect, but it somehow feel smoother. And that was the other day before the update

I just have a start up checklist for DCS. A row of icons on my taskbar

Start WMR

Start SteamVR

Start SimShaker for Aviators

Start Vaicom

Start DCS

I am sure I could automate it but it would feel like cheating :)

For the last few weeks, I've been having tracking issues and I don't know why. When I start up WMR/SteamVR/fpsVR my fps is 90 and in the house I don't have tracking issues. However, when I start up DCS my fps drops to 45 and when in cockpit I start having tracking issues, mainly when looking to my right. When I look left, it actually centers everything. I haven't changed any bulbs or other lighting in the room. I'm using a ceiling fan lighting and I even put a lamp to my right side with & without the shade and tracking still messes up. Could this be a sign that the headset is going bad? I'm already on my second Reverb.

Do you have tracking issues in other VR games ? Or is it only DCS?

Thanks for the reply. I only play DCS. I guess I can figure out a way to test other scenarios. I assumed since it doesn't happen in the House, it's only in DCS, but I can do more tests to confirm.

I use multiple lights in the room. In the ceiling a quite bright obe with 3 bulbs, GU10 still old halogen ones, and also 3 other, one office lamp on the desktop and also one lamp in each window.

I have found when using all three other plus the ceiling lamp there is never any issues but if only the bright one in the ceiling is lighted, I might get tracking issues.

The Reverb inside out really needs light. First to check would be to get it light enough to be sure its not that, before searching for other issues.

Thank you. Does the Reverb need light directly in front? I added a lamp to the right, so I need more lamps? I never had this issue before.

Depends on the room...if you have any windows or doors near. The cameras looks for certain things to set scale. I only use one lamp and it's not that bright. But I haven't seen too many tracking issues.
