How do you get the beta wmr? Isn't that just steam for wmr beta and steam vr beta? This is why I don't like wmr due to multiple interfaces interacting together.
It is WMR for SteamVR beta :)

The USB port power flow/consistency was one of the most frequent problems mentioned in this thread but there are many others like drivers.
Interesting. It shouldn't be USB bandwidth though since I only have 1 device so the bandwidth shouldn't be split. Drivers are all up to date as well (I built the PC 2 days ago). USB bandwidth is a weird thing though so you never know. If need be, I can test the with an Inateck or Startech card (I have a both), so that may help. If it is indeed a USB Bandwidth issue the Startech card should fix that right up.

Thanks!

SteamVR Beta is completely different and from what I've heard should he avoided. The "WMR for SteamVR beta" is completely different.

Hope this helps! :)

I'll be ordering one soon. It should arrive this week knowing how HP ships quickly. Do they let you return it for full refund if there are performance issues even if you open it?

Im scared I'll have issues since I don't have a 2080ti.

CPU is much more important, I think you will be fine with a 1080ti. In fact I don't think a 2080ti would make much, if any, difference

I wouldnt be too scared with a 1080ti. Your eye candy might be less but i think you will be able to find settings that work.

Why do you have your res set to 2500+, isn't the Reverb res 2160 per eye?

Also, I checked my settings in my advanced settings as well as WMR and my refresh rate is 90hz....but SteamVR Settings report at 60hz :/

Any ideas?

SteamVR applies some SS if it thinks your hardware can handle it and it will look better. In the end the frames that are sent to the headset are always the native resolution for best performance even though the image may have been updated. In my testing with changing the setting I found their recommendation to be about the best performance wise.

SteamVR tests everything (mainly GPU) upon booting to determine the optimal setting.

Why would my refresh rate be locked at 60hz? There's no reason for SteamVR to detect that. :/

Is it set at 60 in WMR/Windows? Something may be afoot if it thinks it needs to slow down to 60 hz which has nothing to do with the Reverb. We have seen this problem before.

If you choose Automatic, Windows Mixed Reality will determine and choose the best refresh rate experience for your PC's hardware configuration. For most people, this is the best choice to start with.

If you choose 60Hz, the refresh rate of the headset display gets set to 60Hz, and some mixed reality features will be turned off, such as video capture and preview in Mixed Reality Portal.

If you choose 90Hz, the refresh rate of the headset display gets set to 90Hz, and some experiences and PC configurations might not run as well if your PC doesn't meet requirements.

So SteamVR thinks the hardware can't handle 90 for some reason. I think we discovered the problem. Others on here had the same problem with fast hardware in the past.

You can try adjusting the SteamVR SS down. There can be a lot of causes. Is DCS PD set at 1.0? Remember though SteamVR is looking at the GPU primarily but there are other things like the HDMI/DisplayPort versions that might limit Hz.

Maybe uninstall steamvr and reinstall it after a reboot? Something seems off with steam but this should automatically configure the headset fresh.

Yea should have mentioned both. Do wmr for steam vr first since that's an app within steam and then uninstall steam vr. I've done this many times in the past when faced with odd bugs.

I think the latest versions of SteamVR and WMR for SteamVR updated the beta stuff to the normal release so I am not using the newest betas except for the WMR setting in Windows.

Thanks for the help, guys! I'll check it out.

Some great news though. I went back and re-did all the SteamVR display settings (except for the refresh as noted above) and reconfigured the in-game graphics settings, and needless to say the image looks a LOT better. Now I can really see a difference between this one and the Rift S. I was also able to find a way to get the headset on without it interfering with my glasses so there's no discomfort. The sweet spot seems to be much better now, perhaps I had a setting off or the headset not situated correctly, but either way it is MUCH more accpetable now. Regarding the refresh issue, I did update to the "WMR for SteamVR" to beta today, so perhaps there is a new beta and it bored something.

The cable is still annoying but I can live with that. I'm going to test it out a few more days but it's looking good so far :)

Nice! Glad you were able to figure it out. What setting did you change? I feel like we need a sticky thread with all these quick tips and info for the settings just for the reverb because it's such a pain to go through everything. Especially when there are different setting results for steam stable and beta.

For about $5 from Home Depot I used a wooden dowel and clamps, aided by duct tape and tie wraps, put one end on the back of the chair and the other end held the cable above my head. Now I can't really feel the cable and can check 6 fairly easily.

Yea or at least provide a user friendly change log with the important changes. Wmr is by far the most unintuitive software for these headsets. You think they would integrate everything within windows and just let steam vr use those settings.
