Like we've said many times, let's wait on hands-on reviews from some respected people rather than speculate.

Oh it will come. The Rift S is the only current gen headset that is officially released, while the headsets from WMR and Valve camps are still sitting on the sidelines. I think it would still be interesting to see screen quality comparison between the Rift S vs Quest.

Quest resolution is supposed to be higher and it also seems to be of different quality. But too bad it's not compatible to work with DCS. I'm waiting for impressions about the Reverb since a lot of people are enjoying the rift S.

Quest will not be able to handle in depth PC- games like what we do here.

Games for Quest are not made quite at the level as good PC games are.

Different (and new) market for VR.

So, you've ordered lots of things from them, and know they're trustworthy? Amazon is a known quantity.

 

 

The reviews by users seems to check out.

 

 

I do like that they updated the website with "closed until Tue, we won't ship" And they show inventory by different locations. So they seem to take ecommerce a little more seriously than others.

There's no risk to the Amazon pre-order. I actually like the fact that they have changed the main product page to no longer taking pre-orders, it means they're just as unsure as everybody else should be about when it will actually start shipping.

Lag is for Quest when you are using WiFi.

What tipped me over to them, was that I wanted the Pro leather (synthetic or otherwise) version *and* the fact that the pre-order numbers were two below the inventory numbers. Presumably, the update the system since the locations showed different numbers. Anyway, the child-like me wanted the Pro version as fast as possible w/o going to the HP Reverb site every 10 minutes. LOL. VR flying is a like a drug! :D

 

 

And I've got nothing against AMZN. I was a customer the year they opened and have seen them change over time. But I wanted the Pro version anyway. So I cancelled the pre-order on Amazon.

I think it's just more of the same. To sum up: Don't really know, but here's what people are guessing was the problem/non-problem

Heh, it was the child-like me that made me pre-order the non-pro, just because I wasn't finding the Pro version anywhere, and wanted to grab my place in line. :)

 

They're not fundamentally different from each other though, and I figure I can add the nicer face cushion later.

 

In any case, I think we're going to be ecstatic with our choice in headset. The resolution is higher than what I've been running DCS in on the pancake, since I only recently went 4K for that. I'm expecting that same wow factor that I had the first time I put on my Rift CV1, since that virtual world will be so much clearer than what I've become accustomed to. :joystick:

Another fantastic video review by Mr. Ang! He mentions something that I hadn't thought of with the incredible resolution of the Reverb. He admits that he has no idea what anything is in the cockpit because he has never really been into flight sims. Now he's talking about getting into flight simming because of the Reverb's clarity. This could be a great thing for our community. More players means more funding for development. :D

I have an Oculus S new in box sealed… just waiting for a good performance review on the Reverb before I commit. If superior the S goes to my brother who is just starting with DCS.
