I`v bought a PointCTRL secondhand. Now i cannot download the latest firmware.

Do you have a process to generate a download code for secondhand Users?

There have been 3 HMD USB connectors that have detached from the HMS PCB including DDCrash's .

 

I think its because of a poor design (hey wait a minute, that was my design) that did not take into account that pressure could be put on the USB cord end and stress the connector when VR headsets were being put on and taken off.

 

I have been including supports in the kits, but did not make it clear where they should be mounted to limit this from happening. I am redesigning new HMS Mounts, as some of you guys have suggested, that will support the connector to limit this from happening.

 

Here are a few pew pics of the area to put the supporting zip tie mount. I will get some better pics when I have a few minutes.

Unfortunately i have managed to knock and snap the LED off on my left FCU !!.

 

I soldered a standard type LED in it's place to see if it would work, unfortunately the HMS now loses tracking of the FCU LED beyond 10cm.

 

Does anybody know what type of LED's the PointCTRL FCU's use so that i can try and source a replacement here in the UK.

I am getting a bit behind because I am really trying to clean up the instructions and video's. I got some great feedback on how to improve them. I detailed the direction I am going in the discord.

 

I know you guys are waiting, but I also know there a lot of people that get frustrated with the set-up instructions. PointCTRL works well when you get their, but it really takes to much time initially set-up.

Long time no speak, but finally getting some time to get back into some flying. Hope you are well?

 

Though I haven't been on in a while I've kept a watching brief of things ;) and you seem busy as ever! So having got DCS back into my life, my first point of call was of course getting PCTRL working again.

 

Unfortunately, I'm having a few issues (same as AKA_CLUTTER and DD_Crash). Bascally I have installed the latest Firmware. But when I try to start calibration I have the 1 green light showing voice assist on the GUI. I have checked the Com port (it shows its on 5). But no amount of clicking the right black button gets the second green light on.

 

I'm hoping to be about tomorrow so will drop onto DISCORD if you might be about?

It was great to catch up. WinRar can be tricky, and it wasn't really your fault. I really like 7z, because when you click on the unzipped "Update_PointCTRL" batch file within the downloaded unzipped folder, (after asking you) it unzips the files, keeping the folder structure. It then puts you right in the unzipped "Update_PointCTRL" folder where you were, and you just click again on what appears to be the the same "Update_PointCTRL" batch file.

 

The other issue, I think I just fixed. With some rigs or windows cursor mouse settings, the mouse cursor goes away during during 5 Point Calibration, and you have to wiggle your mouse to get it back. This is the same thing we see when you stop using the regular mouse.

 

PointCTRL keeps moving the cursor location to keep it on. I made some adjustments so hopefully it doesn't go away anymore for everyone.

 

New firmware and Voice Assist should be out tonight. There is no need to "Define Cursor Limits" anymore, so its just a 2 step process. And our Girlfriend doesn't talk as much, we can also ask her nicely to stop talking. Thanks to someone for saying "Miles, does set-up really have to be this Fu__ing complicated. :doh:

Thanks Again,my Pointctrl arrives today and i like it very mutch,but after the Firmwareupdate and Calibration, I was able to use it, but it was not really precise and i try to set the Target points better on Screen and in my Reverb and start the Calibration again.

 

Now I have a Problem. If I move my finger to the right, the cursor will go to the left. Its inverted .

 

How I can fix this? I reinstalled the Firmware and try to Reset with holding both black and the Reset button, but the problem is still alive

Jump on discord and we can talk through the set up and screen share the calibration. You just got a bad calibration, either HMS saw your other FCU or you had some IR interference.

Thanks for the heads up, I will check it out.

 

The new camera sensor settings didn't work with the new 2d application lens. However the increased resolution of the new settings make it workable as is, with 2d monitors. I am adding an indicator for 2d monitors to the GUI that lights and beeps when the FCU is out of the sensors FOV. This will assist in getting things working with your 2d 65" monitor.

 

When I push out the new voice assist we can do a discord screen share and give it another try.

 

Thanks for your patience. I am working on a 2 camera option that is looking promising so far.

 

In the meantime. If you can make a magnetic or movable mount that gets your current sensor as close to the top and front of your head, it would help.

I just got my pointctrl and had my first chance to try it out today and when I plug it in windows is giving me

 

 

 

Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

 

A request for the USB device descriptor failed.

 

 

 

 

Does this mean my camera is DOA? The clickers look fine and they turn on.
