Hey Miles!

 

Got my button banks & I noticed one of the buttons (the one that should output "y") is not working. Is that possible due to my HMS? I was in the 80's grouping so I don't know if that means I had an early HMS per your instructions that the buttons may not work well with early HMS's.

 

Let me know your thoughts...not a super big issue but was wondering if there was something I could do on my side to quick fix it. Thanks!

Yes you are correct, the early production was before the Aux Buttons were made so they were not tested. I would check the 4 pin connectors first, they are small and sometimes they can pop out if the pin detent is not bent up enough to engage the plastic housing.

 

If that's not it and you have a soldering iron. It's an easy fix. Hit me on discord and I will send pics on where to check with multi-meter and where to put the soldering iron to re-flow the the solder.

 

Sorry for the inconvenience, I expect a few of those as noted in my earlier post.

 

Don't forget you can use the buttons with any joystick modifiers you have set up. I think Deano put his admin functions on a modifier. Escape, Chat window, recenter, ect...

And RogueSqdn said he set up Short and Long press for different functions with Joystick Gremlin.

We should have all of the components, and the last of the new equipment within a week. We are making good progress on the new injection/over-molding process. Our goal is to be through the current waiting list by July 15th.

Awesome Pit, I've been following your build and blog for a while. Who need's PointCTRL when you have all those touch screens, switches and buttons! It was interesting to see it go from what I thought was complete against the wall, to what you have today.

I just received the new boards today for v1 and v2. PointCTRL v1 will start shipping in a few days for those who do wait for v2, which is probably 3 or 4 weeks out. I have enough v1 boards for 50 more kits.

PS @everyone. Speaking of feedback, I don't get a lot of feedback here, so if your unhappy or happy with PointCTRL let us all know here in the open forum. As most of you know, I encourage negative feedback, and your suggestions might help others with their own ideas.

 

PointCTRL has only matured because of your assistance through feedback and suggestions. It's been developed for, and with this community.

 

I am okay with positive feedback also:beer:, it may help others decide if PointCTRL is a good fit for them.

Ok, so after around 4 hours flying with my new aux button banks, my thoughts are thus. Fantastic quality like PointCTRL - love that heavy click. I remember you saying I’d maybe need to reassign some keys. I’d actually had Q assigned to External view for all my modules, anyhow this is an ideal button for Aux buttons so I’ll prob assign W for cockpit and E for map on the same bank.

 

The only minor issue I have (personal preference anyways) is I’d rather the buttons were slightly space apart by maybe 3-4mm Between each. At the moment it’s ideal spacing for the FCUs as you’re just using your thumb to press so it’s quicker to press. With the AUX buttons I’d like to feel the 3 buttons with my fingertips together and they’re just not quite on each. Hope that makes sense.

That's actually a great idea Mr Mojo. I will design and order some new PCBs and offer them as an option for those with the real estate on their HMS.

 

We were talking on the Discord about using Voice Attack macros or Joystick Gremlin to map multiple button holds to other functions, like press any one of the three Aux buttons on each side of the HMS at the same time to eject.

 

I probably already mentioned this, but you can also use any joystick modifiers you may already have to increase the amount of functions for the Aux buttons.

 

Anyway, thanks for the feedback, I truly appreciate it, and I am glad you like your Aux Buttons.

Hey Gcom,

 

I will be making 50 of the current PointCTRL v1 kits available to those that do not want to wait. We are still proofing the v2 production boards. When your group is called submit your order and just specify you are waiting for v2. Carol will move you into the "Hold for v2 email folder" and send you an invoice when v2 is ready to ship.
