Flogger23m
Currently I have 2.5 release branch installed. I had thought the Alpha branch would automatically be deleted but it is still installed. With the PG map, can I use the release branch or will I have to use the Alpha branch? Or will I need a new beta branch? To save time downloading, what is the best way to get the new PG map in a single install with NTTR?
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted May 22, 2018 ED Team Share Posted May 22, 2018 Hi the alpha branch is no longer used and will not be updated, you can delete it if you wish. If you want to ensure you get the Persian Gulf first day I would recommend having the open beta, most early access modules are released to the beta first. Release and open beta are the public branches now. Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Thank you. If I download the beta version, will it pull files from the release version or will I have to redownload the entire game? Current install is around 90GB or so and just want to confirm before I start a massive download.
Tomcat84
It’s supposed to be possible to easily switch from beta to release and vice versa with minimal downloading by looking at the options you can do in this thread: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=114030 Edited May 23, 2018 by Tomcat84
QuiGon
It’s supposed to be possible to easily switch from beta to release with minimal downloading by looking at the options you can do in this thread: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=114030 He wants to do it the other way around ;) But that works the same: You just need to run the DCS updater with the following command: DCS_Updater.exe update @openbeta This will convert your release branch to the open beta and is the quickest way to go. If you prefer to install the open beta in addition to your release installation, then you have to download the open beta installer from the website and install it from scratch, but it should make use of your release branch and copy files from there to save download time IIRC. QuiGon
Rog, its not an option in the module manager, yet. Of course not. It hasn't been released yet. It will be there once it has been released, which will be the case later today. Edit: Make sure you have the open beta installed, as it will might be released for the open beta first, followed by the stable release branch a few weeks later. evilivan
So... today I DL'd the latest version of the Beta, which appears to be: 2.5.2.17559.377 I then tried to install the Persian Gulf map, but it is requesting version: 2.5.1.16978.361 ...does that mean that the Persian Gulf map does not work with the latest version of the Beta? No there was an update to DCS World Open Beta this morning you need to grab first. Update your DCS World Open Beta before trying to install the map. Update your DCS World Open Beta before trying to install the map. Read carefully. That's actually what he did ;) And that is pretty weird to be honest, as the map should only work with the new version (2.5.2.17559.377) Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing! evilivan
Thanks for the replies, gents. TBH, my install could be a bit broken due to move from one SDD to another; I think I will to do a full reinstall to fix all that anyway...
