i think its as simple as this, the you drive it through the Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR Settings tab then you will notice no difference, if you leave that set SteamVR per-app setting, you are stuck with whatever setting was last used for that app in SteamVR.  Of course if you know it  exists (and most still dont) the setting in the WMR4SVR sretting will override any setting in steam

Right, but I never understood why this was set in 2 different places anyway.  Doesn't it make sense to have on the WMR tab only?

only if you can control it at an individual game level rather than globally, but yes one place would be ideal

set it to SteamVR managed in wmr and then in steamvr video settings per application set it to forced

Where in the WMR Settings do I "set it to SteamVR Managed"?  I'm looking in the settings window that appears from the Mixed Reality Portal but no joy.

in SteamVR bring up the steam menu by pressing the button on your controller , it will be in the bottom left of the menu...

or you can runit from the command line

WMR4SVR Settings.png

x:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MixedRealityVRDriver\bin\win64\OpenVRSettingsUX.exe

however as per the last 30 post the latest steamvr beta breaks this.

So, when was THIS SteamVR update released? I was up at 2 a.m. CST and had just finished RE-tweaking my setup to forced 45/buttery smooth, SS 100/100 and it was GREAT.

I'm a little foggy, but it seems like I did see a notification of new beta about 1:00 am

When I left off, I had finally arrived at setting my default.vrsettings to:

"driver_Holographic": {
    // Motion reprojection doubles framerate through motion vector extrapolation
    //     motionvector = force application to always run at half framerate with motion vector reprojection
    //     auto         = automatically use motion reprojection when the application can not maintain native framerate
    //     none         = turn off motion reprojection
    //
    // Comment out or remove this line to use the SteamVR settings for controlling motion reprojection
    "motionReprojectionMode": "none",

// If motionReprojectionMode is disabled, these applications will still respect SteamVR settings
    "MotionReprojectionDisabledExceptions" : {
        "DCS.exe" : true

Is this no longer a thing?

Edit: just remoted to my home PC.

Here's a screen grab of current settings. This particular SVR update did apply before I started tweaking. I can confirm that when I finished around 2 a.m. (post update) It was AWESOME!

Off Topic: Has anyone else using the G2 tried to use the USB C connector lately? (assuming you couldn't already).

I could NOT prior to swapping my MB a couple days ago. Tried last night and can now.

Curious if it from the board swap of an unknow WMR fix?

i have always used the type-c connector for my G2

Yeah, I think it was only an issue on AMD based systems.

I have used the USB-C since December with my G2 with no issues. Lately however the headset tracking started to drift to outside the cockpit then reset itself. Lighting had not changed, so I got the adapter out the box and tried connecting with USB 3 which totally fixed the tracking issues but introduced random audio output switching. I'm currently going through ports to see what works. So far so good with a different USB 3.

Have you patched firmware?

I did run that exe yes. Although not convinced it installed properly as there was no confirmation that it installed. Tried it twice.

Just tried it again. The install bar does not seem to complete and the window disappears. Is this normal?

Device manager lists my current firmware as 1.9.36

I also have this in the events category of the headset properties,

Device USB\VID_045E&PID_0659&MI_04\7&339b820c&0&0004 requires further installation.

Anyone know of a way to improve looking down in the cockpit with the G2? Due to the narrow vertical FOV, I have to really extend my neck. Maybe something like the VRnecksafer utility but for vertical axis?

I tried looking for keybinds for View Cockpit but nothing for looking down.

 I have recenter view bound to a button on my stick. When I need to change radios freq in the A-10C for instance, I will physically lean forward, hit the recenter and sit back. This makes viewing things on my rear left and right much easier. When finished, hit recenter again.

Same concept for left and right. Lean far left/forward, hit recenter, then sit normal to see things on the right of cockpit easier.

It's been a while since I installed it, but I seem to recall getting a confirmation that is was completed. I did try to run it a second time and was notified that it was already applied.

Maybe try right click the .exe (or left Shift+right click) and choose Run As Administrator?

Have tried running as admin. Any chance you could check your firmware to see if it matches my 1.9.36?

It's in Device Manager/Mixed Reality Devices/right click/properties/firmware

EDIT- I just realised the download installs the exe on the hard drive to then be run from there. Should be sorted now,

Cheers

I think if you are back to WMR home it means SteamVr crashed ... from there I do the same as you...restarting SteamVR does not help take back control 🙂

As an RTX 3090/11900K/G2 owner, what's the suggested setting I should use for this now? Enabled or Disabled?
