Krasniye
As the rest of the community has said, this is a poor decision. You've missed the entire point of why everyone but brand new players like FC3. So you've taken a small minority of FC3 users and appealed to them. >>Find my liveries (new model MiG-29 Liveries!) and mods here<<

jojo
Hey guys, just to clarify as I got some new info on this, the additional aircraft will be FC3 level version of existing modules. Existing FC3 customers will get a discount towards this update. Which aircraft will be announced later. That’s the worst option possible... It would have been great to have some really missing planes like MiG-23 or MiG-25. It’s really not interesting for long time customers...:( Mirage fanatic ! ED Team NineLine Posted May 26, 2018 ED Team Share Posted May 26, 2018 Wow that is a disappointing shock, I hope they don't pull a fast one here and expect us to buy these FC add ons we already have as full fidelity just so as we can carry on with FC in multiplayer. Now that would be a dreadful kick in the teeth. I dont know why ED would expect you to buy the FC version if you have the full module already. Tello
Will this mean an increase in FC3 "level of detail", like what is kind of going on already ? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

jojo
Plus I think a lot of people would rather buy a full version of FC3 aircraft than a downgraded version of existing full module... Mirage fanatic ! ED Team NineLine Posted May 26, 2018 ED Team Share Posted May 26, 2018 Who's driving this thing? Tell the helmsman we are waaaay off course. Why, you dont like the F/A-18C? I think the goal is to expand the entry level part of the sim. Many people have expressed concerns about the F-16 or other future aircraft being done as FC3 versions, this should make some happy, they will reserve some aircraft as full fidelity and perhaps offer them as a lower fidelity for newbies or people that dont want the full fidelity experience. Bringing new players in and growing the userbase is not incompatible with adding new and interesting aircraft to the game. If I were a new player I'd be much more interested in an FC4 pack with unique aircraft rather than just dumbed down versions of the full fidelity modules. The only reason you'd buy FC3 is because it has its own selection of planes that can't be available otherwise, there is precisely zero value in a Flaming Cliffs pack that doesn't have anything new. Oceandar
Do you have any metrics about the vast majority of the player base who do not post on these forums and are using only FC3 level planes ? I'd be interested.Although not similar and not quite answering you question, maybe we can look back at FC3 A-10A vs A-10C. IIRC there's a thread asking about whether full fidelity A-10A still wanted by most of us and most of the answers were big no. The reason was because the existing A-10C. With near release the Hornet we desperatly need Redfor counterpart, like MiG-29K perhaps? Just my 2 cents Mastering others is strength. Mars Exulte
I agree with Vance, imo it would be better to avoid a lot of overlapping aircraft. The biggest appeal to FC3 is it's the only place to get certain aircraft. Stuff we're not likely to see as full models (F-22, high tier MiGs/Sukhois, EF2000, blah blah) or perhaps niche aircraft that maybe don't warrant or have enough information to make a full module, are good candidates. For example, if we have an F-16C someday, that doesn't mean make a FC F-16A... but maybe provide a similar, but different aircraft, like a Gripen or another multi-role aircraft. Kill two birds one stone, expand the roster of available aircraft, while providing comparable capabilities Де вороги, знайдуться козаки їх перемогти. 5800x3d * 3090 * 64gb * Reverb G2

Kayos
What a bad idea. What the he’ll is DCS thinking? They should be doing new aircraft, preferably Russian since that’s the need. Not dumbed down aircraft we already have. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Existing FC3 customers will get a discount towards this update. Which aircraft will be announced later. Thanks for the update! Although I was secretly hoping for unique "delicate" planes (like Su-34, F-22 and so on) and inclusion of an FC option with all full sim modules, I am still happy with the decision. I've argued my point ad nauseam in another thread https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=205882, so will not repeat here, but yes, I will definitely be a customer :)
Frostie
I dont know why ED would expect you to buy the FC version if you have the full module already. Because every other iteration of Flaming cliffs has required purchasing if you wanted to carry on with up to date multiplayer. With FC2 we got a new map that became free when DCS World came out, with FC3 we had some great extra goodies. Now with FC4 if that becomes a necessity to carry on in mp that means many that invested a shed load of money in DCS will have to pay for and get zero benefit from downgraded versions of modules they already own. This is what the comment about FC4 meant, I wanted to share that with everyone because the hype train was off the rails. Then why not add new airframes? Those who bought an FC4 airframe are probably less likely to want to buy the exact same thing just with more detail. why not kill two birds with one stone by adding new airframes to please current pilots who want a bigger roster and also attract more new customers? *Rage*
This is just cynical in my opinion. I don't get it. How can you believe that the market for a dumbed down F18 or M2k, Mig21 already in the game as a full fat, non decaf module is larger than an equivalent level Tornado, or Mig25 or something else genuinely unique?
