Turning off irritating zoom out at start?

I can understand some people not being bothered by this, but I can’t understand why anyone would positively like it or want it. I mean, what does it actually achieve?

If ED insist on having this initial zoom, why not make it default to the user’s mid-axis zoom point? I don’t even see what position it is zooming out to!

If we have a snap view saved, is there any way to get it to zoom to that? I have to hit the num pad enter key to get the correct view setting every flight.

It's been a while but I think the following still holds true....

 

You can edit the 'CameraViewAngleLimits' in your 'Server.lua' file and whatever you set as maximum will limit how wide the auto-zoom, erm, zooms.

 

Trouble is the 'CameraViewAngleLimits' is a global setting - i.e. if you set it to 90 then that will be the max FOV for every flyable aircraft - regardless of whatever customised values you might have in the 'Snapviews.lua' file.

Not an issue for me, never has been. Doesn't bother me in the least.

This was the rationale for the zoom at the time....

 

feature

 

for wide screens to match the same view coverage as default view on 1280x1024 monitor

( i assume that you never play with triplehead setup in 1 screen mode ( each mission start as inside of tank )

 

will be tuned and optional

Even far inferior sims like FSX or X-plane,

or any other si to my knowledge don't have this

useless "feature".

I play mostly on my rift and thus am not too affected by it but still I'm with you 100%. I don't understand why this "feature" exists as it adds nothing whatsoever aside from being annoying.

It's not that big but it has bothered me a bit when doing testing, when I have to respawn fast.

Dont assume this.

Assume the default view will be.... the default view :) Ok, i.e.:

- default FOV: 90

- max FOV: 160 (aka zoom out)

- min FOV: 40 (aka zoom in)

The mid point is about 100, which is not a default FOV. But, anyone can fix it already by setting max/min so that mid = default.

Also to get rid the zoom out - set the max = default. It works already.

F/A-18, F-16, F-14, M-2000C, A-10C, AV-8B, AJS-37 Viggen, F-5E-3, F-86F, MiG-21bis, MiG-15bis, L-39 Albatros, C-101 Aviojet, P-51D, Spitfire LF Mk. IX, Bf 109 4-K, UH-1H, Mi-8, Ka-50, NTTR, Normandy, Persian Gulf... and not enough time to fully enjoy it all
