I think, no thanks!

ATI has managed to wait just long enough to release their answer to the GTX more than likely right before the successor of the GTX is unvieled. : /

Heck, the GTX and GTS are already cukoo for Coco Puffs fast. I wonder what the next few evolutions will bring.

Thinking the same, not just because of BS but because I realy need a new PC of my own. My family needs is keeping me away from competition, so Ill just dump this one to them and get myself a badass machine.

I hope these cards are not as montrous as these or else Ill have to skip them.

I have a roughly similar machine to yours but with an ATI x850xt pe.

Id estimate an increase of 2-3 times in average framerates at highest graphics settings with expected new hardware.

ill wait till BS is released and ideally SP1 for vista and penryn/barcelona barefist knuckle fight competition.

Put on full shadows with advanced haze, fly into a cloud then come back and tell me how nice it looks.

Same thing with ships.

Or how about when view distance is less than 30 miles, you don't get graphic anomalies around the coastline?

I always run with full shadows and haze on advanced, and I haven't really seens any issues yet. I haven't seen the dark color on my SU-25T (can't speak for the others though since I don't fly them). I saw the coast line stuff with my 6800GT, but I don't think it's as bad with my 7800 GTX OC because I don't really notice it (I keep view distance on medium or far though). If the coastline is messed up, maybe I'm not paying attention, or I'm flying too low. lol

I had a similar issue to what your pics show in FSX with regards to the shadows, but that was a driver or so ago.

I hope and do think the R600 will be a good response to the 8800

If it is, it took them long enough.

Of course, Nvidia will be getting set to release their next refresh by then. lol

just read the articles:chair: : Launch should be March, Availability one month later (Just in Time for Black Shark)

Yeah yeah I know i did! I've read a lot of articles but ever sing one seemed to give a different date.

As far as the foot long card, that apparently is the OEM version for system builders and I am guessing serious useres (like CGI renderers?) The retail version which I am assuming is for us is only 9"

I love my job :pilotfly:

NVIDIA's 8800GTS with 320MB is out with pricings at very acceptable level.

http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/02/12/the_amd_squeeze/page2.html

Im definatly going to get a card of this class, their smaller and comsume less, if ATI brings a similar card soon Ill get it. But I wont wait because of ATI so they better come out before I decide to buy it.

Jeeeeeez >>> http://www.legitreviews.com/article/459/1/

Shouldn't be surprised... it was all about clock speed between the 640mb and the 768mb ... but still, 320mb (300$) getting near GTX speeds ... thats truely worth looking at. Todays release puts the greatest amount of pressure on ATI, more so than the 640mb GTS or the GTX release.

I'm about to go from AMD and build an intel machine, one till penryn or such gets here and prices drop... AMD/ATI has to get closer to the releases of Intel and Nvidia... They simply must
