I have a cougar HOTAS, what TX 1-6 mapping is suggested please?

You can have the Vaicom version but not the Heatblur original. Get this up by saying 'Jester....options' and then Take 1, Take 2 etc

When you use Jester... options, a wheel will appear with big numbers inside the actions / titles (this is the Vaicom version of the Heatblur wheel). Take 1 will pick action 1, take 2 will pick action 2 etc. In turn these may open another wheel of options where you would do the same again.

 

As an example Jester,,,options might show a wheel with Navigate at the top and a 1 underneath. Take 1 would select this option and show the navigation options with Steerpoint 1 with a 1 inside it, steerpoint 2 with a 2 inside it etc. Take 2 would then tell Jester to navigate to Steerpoint 2

Hi everyone,

I'm really struggling with a totally baffling issue.

My VAICOM Pro has worked great for nearly six months, it was really easy to install and I've had no issues through multiple updates and new modules. Until about two weeks ago...

 

Now it doesn't work in DCS.

Everything works fine in VA, it hears my input, interprets correctly and chooses the right commands, but nothing happens in DCS.

I've tried resetting the LUA files, this didnt do anything.

 

I've not installed anything new so far as I can tell, I don't use VA for anything else. When I run the Diag it can see DCS fine and tells me all versions are up to date.

 

I'd really appreciate any ideas on how to fix this, I can't even work out what is wrong - nothing appears to be wrong - it just stopped working!

Which module(s) are you trying this in and how to do you have DCS / Vaicom configured (e.g. is Easy Comms on or off, do you use select tunes radio etc)?

 

Have you tried using the command when DCS is not running? I know the kneeboard won't show, but when I try it the command is recognised

 

 

When in the cockpit with the kneeboard open and in dictation mode, what does the PTT tab of Vaicom config show (i.e. does it show the correct module with the correct PTT mapping)?

All - while we will try to help all users, this thread is now very long and it is easy to miss things. Vaicom now has its own sub-forum and it is easier for us to identify new requests for help if you could look through / search the existing threads to see if there is already the same or a similar issue reported. If there is then please add to the thread if any suggested fixes do not work for you.

OK - do you have debug turned on in Vaicom - if not, please could you turn this on. Once on, please could you close VA, restart it and then post the Vaicom log file here. This file can be found in <VoiceAttack install directory>\Apps\VAICOMPRO\Logs

Could you try running without this module in and see if it makes a difference. Also, do you have the NS430 addon as I know @Hollywood_315 has stated there are compatibility issues with this

I removed that ages ago, there is no aircraft folder in either of the mods folders (saved games or dcs root). Any ideas where it is drawing it from? I don't have the NS430

No idea at all, but you are also pulling in a lot of F10 commands (you can always use the Options command while in flight to view the DCS comms menu and then use Take 1, Take 2 etc to select entries from it for mission specific commands).

 

I think it is probably worth trying a reset of Vaicom - this won't remove speech training you have done but might remove any custom commands you have added so backup the list first and then:

 

1. Turn off Import F10 Menu from the Preferences tab and Auto-import new modules from the Config tab

2. Use the Reset tab to clear and reset the keywords database (do not check any other options on this tab) - you can always try steps 3 to 6 first without this step and see if it resolves the issue for you without a full reset

3. Export the profile from the Vaicom config (Export button on the Editor tab)

4. Import this profile into VA

5. Go back to Vaicom config Editor tab, click on the FINISH button and follow the steps

6. Close down VA and restart and see whether the log messages have gone

7. Try DCS

 

You can then turn back on the Import options if you wish

I did a major master reset in Vaicom, everything apart from the licenses. This time it worked. I suspect something was corrupted in the settings, maybe around dynamic switching in multiplayer.

Running Viacom with the F14. Easy comms is off. Select tunes is off. The command is recognized when outside DCS.

I am neither the smartest nor dumbest guy around but what am I doing wrong? I have all setup as advised, the free version, when I test by "request rearming" I get the understood beep but the rearming window does not come up.

Now you can move the menu to any position you like by adjusting the values. (It works the same way as you would position your gauges.)

Just ran across this the other day. Don't know if has been reported. When saying Scan Elevation for use with the Show Messages/Hints Only feature, the on-screen window shows Scan MIDDLE. However, the correct call would be Scan Level.
