Missing Shadows

First of all, thank you ED for new improvements, we are about to enter a new era of Dcs World.

i just want to remind some noticable differences since 2.1 version released

there are still missing shadows on 2.2 version, i have noticed those since 2.1 version released.

building shadows does not have an effect on other low buildings and also static cars, user aircraft..etc

 

i noticed the same for mountain shadows, despite the sun is behind them, aircraft is still shinny.

and also before 2.1 released, we have cloud shadows which are effective on aircraft model and also cockpit while flying under them, they are also disappeared.

this is not true...to have casting shadows on objects from other object you have to set ground shadows to "standard" instead of "flat"...about mountains and clouds casting shadows on planes and other stuff, it does in fact works perfectly in my 2.2...maybe you need to go for the maxed out shadows setting to get them.

After changing terrain object shadows flat to default, building shadow cast another building and objects missing problem fixed with some stolen fps.:thumbup:

but unfortunately shadows cast on user aircraft problem is still strangly exists.

while flying under building and mountain shadows, my cockpit still looks shinny but outside view, there is a shadow on aircraft.

i use zoom from outside view and noticed that the shadows disappeares when i use maximum zoom.

 

here are examples of building shadow problem:

1st zoom out, 2nd zoom in, 3th max zoom in and the last one is situation of cockpit which is always shinny

Glad to be of help mate!:)

 

About the missing shadows when zooming, I think its due to how the rendering is handled right now, I mean, when you zoom in, objects behind the view are not rendered anymore and thus no shadow is casted from them...it happens with trees also and I guess thats what you are experiencing....about the shadows over cockpit I dont know, will have to check myself (didnt try with buildings yet).

 

Anyway I think the new casting shadows are very wip yet so expect improvements in the future.
