CombatFlite -- a flight planning tool

That is nowhere near what I'm seeing, if you set the playback speed on that video to 1/4th, it still look to run faster than it is on my end. And I'm also talking that empty NTTR map.

Episode 2 of CombatFlite Tutorial videos is up. It is the first video of a two-part tutorial covering basic mission planning functionality of CombatFlite.

CombatFlite update 1.1.1.8 is out!   Changes: Added Radial Menu (right-click in map area) Added Nevada TPC raster map Added 'Minutes since WP1' and 'Minutes since Push

CombatFlite v1.1.1.6 (and a quick 1.1.1.7 hotfix) is up and running!   Changes include: Improved Mission Panel UI Added BDU-45 for DCS F/A-18C Added APKWS for DCS AV-8B Added ammo

Love the app so far... is there a way to load the new viggen INI files that are autogenerated into combatflite?

Not yet... working on it :smilewink:

MGRS coordinates? (always worry to ask you something now because you always tell me it's already there and I look stupid :) :) )
MGRS is displayed for the cursor position in the status bar of the main window, and in the kneeboard data card for each of the waypoints (selectable as an option on the left) and for targeted dmpis (if there are any). Also in the auto-generated briefing for dmpis (from the top of my head).

Switching between ddmmss/ddmmmm/mgrs for the data entry fields in the main form is on the to-do list...

No, usually it's me who looks stupid ;)

Few other requests I haven't seen:

Would it be possible to make CF remember its state after closing down (i.e. theater, map, map position, zoom level, transparency, overlays etc.)?

And connect transparency to map, so every time a particular map for a particular theatre are loaded, the transparency is automatically set to the value last used for that combination?

Maybe a pop-up at start asking for opening last edited mission?

No musts, just suggestions.

Here's a strange one... running combatflight whilst DCS mission was open but saved in ME caused all objects and associated triggers to be stripped from a fairly complex file - it just left the airframes and triggerzones... the rest gone, puff!

RAF AIR UK

1(F) Squadron RAF AIR UK (Harriers)

Far too many DCS modules, a black box full of expensive

gizmos, more controllers and buttons than the space shuttle,

Just wanna report some issues i have.

CF 1.0.2

1. CF messes up missions so i cannot delete objects in the ingame editor.

2. When importing a mission into CF it changes the callsigns of existing aircrafts, thus messing up scripts. (Like Blue1)

3. CF removes the Late Activation on aircrafts.

Thanks for making this great software.

1. is internally solved, 2. and 3. is being worked on and will be resolved in the next update.

Also, already done and part of the next update is the import of auto-generated Viggen cartridges, performance optimization, UI layout saving when closing, recent files list, and the fixing of several bugs.

On a sidenote, an online manual is a WIP as well.

Cheers,

This is really great and i hope that DCS someday make stock system like this (or pays for you to get this)

I'd rather keep this piece of software outside DCS environment. In doing so I can install CF on a laptop and use it wherever I am -yes, even at work- and then simply import the work done into my gaming rig to adjust the last details before the flight.

Don't know if these have been reported or not but on the Kneeboard I'm getting a lot of .net JIT errors./unhandled exceptions.

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
   <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

is the latest but i was also getting some when i tried to make png files i'll see if i can reproduce again later for you.

Suggestion: Given your not nesting the windows but having each as it's own specific window you may wish to add a check on your button pushes and store the existing reference so you can pull said window to the front when the button is clicked, as currently they just hide behind the main window and don't come to front.

Hi,

Thanks for reporting it. An update will be out probably tomorrow. Having the overall performance improved, fixed a number of reported bugs, added auto-generated Viggen cartridge import plus a few other things.

Hi Viper,

great tool - love it!

what do you do with the lua exported file? how to use it in the mission editor?

The lua exported file contains the flights. In the Mission Editor, you can add a "DO SCRIPT FILE" action (for example at the mission start as a trigger) to run the .lua. It will add the flights in it. You can add and run multiple lua files (you'll need to add one "DO SCRIPT FILE" action for each lua).

However, DCS does not support adding "Client" air units via the DO SCRIPT FILE action -- only "Player" or AI-controlled units can be added. (If you add "Client" units via the DO SCRIPT FILE, DCS will throw an error message.)

Viper39! This tool is continuing to impress me more and more every time I use it! Truly amazing!

I have a feature request! I would really like the ability to do more than one LOS Calculation at a time pretty please! This is important for when trying to brief a SAM Network Coverage pattern across a much greater distance with multiple radars. For example, with my work IRL we created a coverage map for our wireless internet http://conpoint.com/maps/ . as you can see, multiple points with a radius of 7 miles are calculated. Extrapolating this to a EW/SAM radar network for a mission would be greatly appealing :D

Kneeboard generation gives an error during generation with 1.0.3. :(

Simple scenario - just put M2000C CAP flight at random Caucascus airport, added a few WPs, went to kneeboard generation and click generate.

Following errors where encountered:

Mission data card failed.
