DCS Update Patch Notes Discussion Thread

Change-log is out, it does not say that it's for open-beta.

Is the hornet and Persian gulf on release branch now ? :)

I'm pretty sure moving to Release branch would be an announcement. This is still for OB.

Mine was 1gb but didnt advance despite having download speed

The patch size usually varies depending on the amount of owned modules. Just never seen it go 2 stages, but maybe they just started splitting things up in different packages. Im getting good speed though, maxing out my connection.

- Jack of many DCS modules, master of none.

- Personal wishlist: F-15A, F-4S Phantom II, JAS 39A Gripen, SAAB 35 Draken, F-104 Starfighter, Panavia Tornado IDS.

ME. Added feature of static templates.
Assuming it means that it's possible to build a template only from a static objects only:

Big thanks ED!!! :beer::beer::beer:

This will save a lot of time for mission creators.

What happened to

Known issues

External lights (flashlight, taxi light) are visible inside some cockpits.

It's not mentioned in any further updates as a known issue but at least so far it hasn't been fixed. Not a game breaker but at the same time really annoying.

Wow this is a huge issue for me (patch size). My DCS folder is already 137gb, now I need additional 12gb+ on my SSD to patch. Of course I don't have that. Anyone ideas? I don't know how to patch and there is no way I can make 12gb room.

It seems the first lot (4gb in my case) was to do with "deltas"... Any ideas what they are?

Version 2.8.0:

- Support for delta-compressed updates.

I hope this means what I think it means -> downloading only deltas of the modified files. If so, thanks ED, finally. This will mean a lot to users with limited speeds and/or bandwidth.

Edit: After seeing that the 1 GB patch with deltas is followed by another one of 9 GB without deltas, perhaps my enthusiasm was a touch early.

Lots of goodies came with this one, UK soldier, new WW2 assets, new dirt runway color, concrete runways. Thank you ED!

My only concern is that the concrete runways in Normandy look quite vibrant, vivid blue-ish.

Yeap, I guess the 12GB of the update is mainly due to the Normandy and WWII assets pack.

I'm glad to see WWII get some love. I may not venture in it as much but happy for that fan base. It has soo much potential in being great!

On the today change-log show:

New barrage balloons

But the only barrage balloon actually has the "old" A1 present from WW2 assets pack release. Missing something?

Other point, the changelog talk about the M2A1/M3 Halftrack, but only appears the M2A1. M2A1 has a Halftrack Prime mover/scout vehicle, the M3 has enlarged troop transport version with more troop capability (12 vs 9)

Well that was a nice surprise after Matt said it would most likely be Friday before the update dropped. "....everything is subject to change!"

A tonne of stuff in the update too, especially for Normandy and the FA-18C. The ED guys have been busy indeed. thankyou.

The only downside so far is the new downloader. The information it is providing is just nonsense, to the point that I can't even tell if the torrent has hung or not.
