Trees kill the fps in Nevada.

I hope you change those trees. They are putting an end to map performance. Flying low by helicopter is impossible to reach 60 fps.

In patch 2.0.4 was in the same region 80 fps.

In patch 2.0.5 40 fps.

I do not even want to see the map of Normandy and the new Caucasus with these new trees.

Reduce trees visibility to 10.000, shadows on HIGH, Cockpit to 512 and MSAA to x4 and try again.

16xQ? this is too much,

x8 is just fine.

I used the same setup in 2.0.4 and it was in the 80 fps range. Now I do not know what the trees did to get heavy.

Try our suggestions and then compare.

As you can see. Almost nothing has changed. ED has to change these trees. They're killing the FPS ...

I hate to be the one to say it, but Nevada is designed for current/new hardware, your rig is...well its out of date. See screenshot. Upgrade these three items to modern day spec, e.g. DDR4 32GB or better, an i7 56xx or better CPU, and a 1050 or better GPU(s).

I have a GTX1070 8GB and a higher end i7 w/ 32GB DDR4, I have no issues hovering over Las Vegas boulevard, with trees set at full, shadows etc etc.

Granted I may not hit 60fps, but certainly well above 35-40 on average, which is aaaaall you need no matter what anyone says.

You might be right, to an extent, but since a new CPU and memory will also require a new motherboard, I would be inclined to upgrade the GPU and consider overclocking the CPU. After that see what kind of performance results.

There are quite a few people still running overclocked 2600k's with good results.

The problem is that in 2.0.4 the fps was normal. I did not have a problem. The FPS only get 39 on the points that have trees. I see it's easier to blame my computer than the game here in the forum.

His pc is very good, a GTX 980 Ti will DCS 2 ofc, but who said the game is for new rig?

the requirements are clear 8GB minimum and 2GB graphic card minimum doesn't matter which generation old or new, but gamers always want the best performance to play even other games , i and many others have DDR3 rams and they are very good no need to upgrade to DDR4 (Y)

Same issue here!

I had a flight over Boulder City Municipal Airport and I noticed same fps drop over this area

I have 60 fps almost everywhere but over those trees, I get 30-40 fps and it feels like flying over low fps swamp:) I cannot pass over them quickly.

I guess this type of trees will cause big fps problem with upcoming 2.5 caucase map.

I talked about this long time ago...trees have some kind of problem. When very near the trees, I get 60fps but suddenly, I move the camera SLIGHTLY to some point in the center of the trees coverage and fps goes to hell, as low as 25fps with my OC'ed hardware...from 60+ to 25 fps just by looking at "anything" on the trees or getting just slightly closer to them...

Normandy and the new Caucasos I do not even want to see. The trees will kill the simulator's performance.

Can confirm this. Fly down close to the ground over Vegas and watch the stuttering over areas with even a small number of trees - until you fly over McCarren airport, for instance, and suddenly all smooth again until you pass it by.

The additional load is put on the GPU. An extra 5-6ms in frametime lost, which is abnormally huge. CPU seems unaffected.

This is clearly a bug. Hope they're aware, as this could be one of those difficult ones to get anyone to acknowledge! :noexpression:

Yes, I made 3 screens showing this problem. Each one from the first to the last getting slightly closer (NOT zooming):

1487946315-dcs-2017-02-24-15-20-45-18.jpg

1487946306-dcs-2017-02-24-15-20-51-73.jpg

1487946309-dcs-2017-02-24-15-21-03-51.jpg

As you can see, getting just a bit closer causes a BRUTAL fps drop...I guess something gets loaded at this distance that causes the problem, but the thing is I cant see any noticeable difference in quality so it shouldnt be considered as "justified". I also doubt its due to trees because seems like you can find spots with lots of trees where this is not happening so maybe some object among the trees or building with some problem or with an extreme and bugged poly count, I dont know...also, I have triple buffer enabled so no problems there (also note I get 45fps in between both extremes)

Maybe its not the visual complexity of the trees, but the collision detection?

Whichever it is, the problem is real and it spells disaster for Normandy and the Caucasus.

Good point, could be...

Well, not necesarily, bear in mind they are working on a different (better obviously) way to render big amounts of trees so I have good spectations about performance/visual quality ratio for 2.5 but its good to make devs to know this problems

i actually didn't notice any problems in nevada, but havent tried it for some time either.is that a new problem or has it been there ever since?

Normandy and Caucasus do have way more trees, so hopefully you are wrong with your assumption.

yes, its been there for me since I purchased it more than a year ago (with 2 different and powerful systems)
