55 inches, 4k TV

Recommended Posts

Does anyone use 55 inches tv ( 4k ) as a monitor ?

Right now i own the JS 9000 / 48 inches, i use it most of the time for pc gaming ( flight sim ) but i think to upgrade it to 55 inches ( Samsung KS 9090 )

The only think i'm worry is the dpi, 92 dpi - 48 inch vs 80 dpi - 55 inch

I do not use it much for emails, text, web browsing, etc

Would the letters / fonts / look way bigger on 55 inches, than 48 inches ? I mean all the ingame fonts, text, letters, etc

Thank you and Happy New Year to everyone

Well naturally same resolution on a bigger screen means everything will just be bigger.

But Windows will let you adjust letters DPI so you can have everything same absolute size.

80 dpi should be enough. The limit value for the most cases is 75dpi. But it also depends on your distance to the screen. If you have a distance of 4 meters to your 55 inch TV, then Full-HD would be enough but if you press your forehead onto the screen, then 4k would not be enough ;)

The enlargement of all letters and fonts is the same as the enlargement of the screen, in case of a steady resolution of 4K and aspect ration of 16:9. 48 inches to 55 inches is an enlargement of about 15% in height and width. Letters do the same.

Maybe its also possible to raise the font size by modifying some LUAs. You should search for that first before spending hundreds of bucks into a new TV. I guess 48 inches should be big enough already.

Yes, it is, but for a flight sim, the bigger, the better

If i would have $$$ , i would go for 3 x 65" but with 2 or 3 GTX 1080

Hahahaha...nope it's your distance to the tv. I have a 55 inch samsung. I play DCS every day. My distance is 2 meter from the tv. I set the resolution to 2k. Because right now is the text in game is to small for me in 4k. In 2k i can see it well. But if you sit in a meter you can see it all i assume. :D
