Bigger rudder

Hello ED-guys,

will we get an option beside the clipped wings for a bigger rudder?

Late production series airframes, typically Mk. IXe and Mk. XVI, were often fitted with the larger, pointed Mk. VIII-type rudder.

first pic/link is a russian IX with bigger rudder and clipped wings.

My guess would be, since it's an IXc model we got, we won't get the bigger rudder.

System specs:

Gigabyte Aorus Master, i7 9700K@std, GTX 1080TI OC, 32 GB 3000 MHz RAM, NVMe M.2 SSD, Oculus Quest VR (2x1600x1440)

Warthog HOTAS w/150mm extension, Slaw pedals, Gametrix Jetseat, TrackIR for monitor use

The rudder could retro-fitted to the V-stab if I remember correctly. I don't know if this was done on the line for production IXcs or as a common field modification as the only LF IXc I have ever seen with a pointy tail was PT672 belonging the the RSAAF and then the SAAF.

I'll try and dig up more info

can you tell me where do you find that we got the IXc?

On the DCS shopping page and here in the forum i can only read that we get a spitfire IX. so it can be any IX-version.

So when it is ture what you tell me, then your answer make sense. And we forget the question about a bigger rudder :)

OK so here's what I found

It could be retrofitted although this was done very rarely, typically as a repair.

As a production fittinget it didn't really come about until mid-1944. I have found several pictures that can be confirmed as LF. IX by their tail numbers. One of them is definitely an IXc, though I have read that the others are also IXc as well.
