Can any tell me why 2560 x1440 does not show in the drop down menu? does it only display options your hardware is capable of? as I was going to upgrade to ips.

It does show more than your monitor is capable of iirc ( not at my game rig to actually verify ), but to make sure Windows-GPU-DX11-DCS understand each other well....INSTALL the monitor's INF file so Device Manager shows your actual make of screen and not just Plug&Pray monitor standard device. The driver should read your vendors name and not "Microsoft".

How can one install the monitor's INF file? Mine keeps saying the correct driver is already installed and that is the Microsoft pnp driver. I can download the Acer driver from their site, just cannot get it to install. Thanks for your help.

RIGHT-CLICK the *.inf file and choose install, that should do the trick.

 

Also. in my DCS I only see up to 2560*1440 which is my native res. i dont see any higher one, just tested on me rig

Thanks but I don't think I'm going to be able to get this done on my Acer. The .inf is contained in a 7ZIP file and even though I can open the zip and see the .inf file, it has no provision for installing it. Acer's website says Windows 10 does all the necessary driver installs required of their monitiors so I guess I'm out of luck changing anything in the Device Manager as regards "monitor".

As mentioned above, all you would need to do is extract the .inf from the 7zip file, then right-click on it (the .inf file) and select Install. Super easy.

Tried that and wasn't successful. Tried one more time and managed to pull it off. Thanks for the help.

Teamviewer, VPN&RDP, VPN&SSH...that's the best they ever made for us lazy guys who dont wanna leave home to fix things but still wanna write a bill ;)
