because everyone has similar and different systems specs, i figure we get a thread going on settings to compare with each other..

please state the following:

a) system specs (CPU,GPU,OS)

b) dcs world graphics settings

c) oculus debug tool pixel density value

d) dcs world version

e) fps

feel free to share your comments on the experience with you settings.

i hope to have my finalize during the week

a) Hazwell E 5820, EVGA GTX 1080, Windows 10 64bit

b) Everything maxed

c) 2.0

d) Live version and 2.0

EDIT: sorry these are FPS in rift

average around 30 to 40

I do notice on some instances there is a slight shudder. I really dont want to reduce my settings as I am a graphics whore, so would thowing another 1080 at it help?

Very good initiative, I've been looking for info on the best settings for looks and performance for vr. Maybe add: e) average fps?

A) i5 4690k @ 4.3 ghz, R9 290 tri-X, win 10 64 bit.

B) Textures medium, visibility medium, trees 5000, everything else off/ lowest.

C) 1.5

D) 1.5

E) 70 - 90 at high altitude, mostly above 45 on the deck.

Shadows look amazing in vr but are too much of a performance hit. MSAA and Aa make switch labels easier to read but too much of a performance hit also. I decided to put the little bit of graphics power that my gpu has into visibility because seeing ground textures suddenly disappear in the near distance was too much of an immersion breaker. Currently selling my mother in law on ebay to buy a 1080.

a) Win 8.1 64bit i7 6700k 980Ti All standard clocks. SSD drives

b)

###MSAA Anti-Aliasing. Keep it at 4x ! Anything higer will cost extra framerates and dont add more visible performence. OFF and 2x will make jaggies.

###Anistropic Filtering: OFF. Any value donˇt improve picutre quality and will slightly reduce FPS.

#Textures: Medium

#Terrain Textures: Low

#Civ. Traffic: Low

#Water: Low

#Visibility Range: Low

#Heat Blur: OFF

#Shadows: This is a real frame killer. Flat is ok. Low will reduce FPS a lot.

#Res. of Cockpit Displays: 1024 Every Frame

#HDR: ON, I say HDR is a must have. Visual effects are much better with HDR and it wont cost too much FPS

#Depth of Field: Off

#Lens Flare OFF

#Clutter: anthing from 1-3 half position on slider. Max Clutter will reduce slightly FPS

#Trees: 4000-6000

#Preload Radius: anthing from 1-3 half position on slider. Max PreLoad will reduce FPS

#Flat Terrain Shadows: Off

----------------------------------------------

c) 1.5 up to 2.0

d) 1.5 open beta and 2.0

e) lowest ~45, avg 60-70-80
