Announcing Tu-22M3 Troika by Black Cat Simulations

Recommended Posts

Lets not argue! Can anyone post the full payload options?

Haven't done any in depth research but, as far as I know :

- BOATLOAD of FAB-250 and / or FAB-500s.

- Kh-22 (long ranged supersonic missile) in anti ship or anti radar versions

- Kh-15 (sort of like B-1s SRAM). Apparently this one also has an anti radar version.

- Last (and least =P) twin 23mm on tail :D

Wishlist: F-4E Block 53 +, MiG-27K, Su-17M3 or M4, AH-1F or W circa 80s or early 90s, J35 Draken, Kfir C7, Mirage III/V

Oh yeah.

I wonder if it can somehow use TV or laser guided bombs too.

Not sure either. I heard it was contemplated in the 90's. Not sure if it was implemented and if Black Cat Simulations has any documentation on that. It does have a TV sight though. Allowing atleast for decent aiming of dumb weapons.

If you look infront of the nosewheel gear you can see the device

Great aircraft and exciting possibilities with multi-crew for sure.

Not to be the "Debbie Downer" but the only problem I have is that the maps we have are all relatively small. Might have to fly around in circles over the black sea for a bit to simulate the longer mission times for a strategic bomber.

I hope the strait of Hormuz map will fix that. By flying over dozens km of water I hope we can atleast emulate the feeling we're on a long ranged strategic mission. Maybe someday we'll have a map where we can really appreciate the long range of this plane.

I'm super excited for this plane. Would be a day one buy for me for sure.

One question though. I don't know much about the DCS engine. Why is creating a map such a big task? How come FSX is able to have the entire world? My guess would be DCS isn't very accurate?

With Edge DCS can render full earth, But you won't see it near future.

My rough estimated prices for modules is something like this

9.99$ = campaigns

34.99$ = trainer SFM and no multicrew

49.99$ = full DCS module

59.99$ = full DCS module with multicrew

79.99$ = bundle (2 aircraft or map+aircraft)

This complex module with special AI + long range antiship missiles + double multicrew (4 possible cockpits?) ... not less than 99.99$

Guys, I don`t think that it`s a proper moment to even to talk about the prices. I`m fine that people want to discuss it, but I think it`s pointless at this current stage, when this thing will be nearly done, then ok.. But now...

Found this video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sythQV9JRI

At 5:07 You can see the TV system in action.

At 4:36 we can also see a pilot/crewman operate the SPO-15 RWR. Will be cool if we can fully interact with this device in the module.

Love wings of russia, have watch the whole documentary, lots of usefull information :)

Good luck guys, will be watching this closely, would be a very unique and special addition to DCS!

We will intercept that in M-2000c and escort it out the zone from Nellis. :)

Black Cat Simulations Update

12 May 2016:

Firm details:

- It won't be ready by July 2017. See? Now you know we're a real developer. No word yet on when it will be.

- 'We' is now three, alieneye has joined us in our quest to climb Mount Backfire.

- As far as speculation about weapon systems, sensors, etc, it is going to be a period correct, late 80's to maybe early 90's Tu-22M3. There was some variation between construction batches; we will eventually fix on a particular serial number, and whatever it has is what it has. 'Period correct' means Kh-22's, Kh-15's, various FAB's, and no laser designator. It's a bomb truck though, so that doesn't mean somebody can't make a Mega-Backfire mod...:music_whistling:

- We watch this thread, and lurk...

Well done Brian! Your future is brighter each day!!

Keep up with the good work, Backfire could be a really hard mountain but I would like to see a Black cat setting a flag on top of it...
