Hi guys, a couple notes:

1- The explosion effect is the same. However, perhaps the addition of deferred lighting and PBR is making it look different. New explosion effects are still in work as a top priority.

2- We first release all new videos on Facebook, but then release on YT a few days later. Part II of the Frog attack will go on YT this Friday.

Thanks

Did Matt upload the part 2 of the Su-25 video to YouTube? Watching videos via facebook is terrible, since I want to see the details, I would like to watch on Youtube.

Thanks

It should go on YouTube soon, they tend to hit FB first.

Whoops... sniped.

This book looks like a very good source of information for the Normandy map:

https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=I10OjlPjcI0C&pg=PA81&lpg=PA81&dq=2nd+taf+ground+attack+techniques&source=bl&ots=5Fs7Aq_c9B&sig=aakAadthwHzEV9MjOhlnUS4KS50&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi03PTj9pLTAhWHJMAKHfPiBrwQ6AEINjAF#v=onepage&q=2nd%20taf%20ground%20attack%20techniques&f=false

It was interesting to read that some Typhoon rocket attacks were within 100 yards of the Guards' tanks which were burning yellow recognition smoke.

From the book - seems some pilots had trouble seeing yellow smoke. :)

There is no good system to give away extra map modules and not have people abuse it. So its not as simple as you might think.

Why is it possible for plane modules then? It could work just the same..

Windows 10 64bit, Intel i9-9900@5Ghz, 32 Gig RAM, MSI RTX 3080 TI, 2 TB SSD, 43" 2160p@1440p monitor.

you dont need to own a plane module to make a mission and set it as client.

you need to own it if you want to occupy that slot in the mission though.

I block Facebook on my firewalls... so I can't watch it on Facebook. Sad that Facebook gets a head start... I have to wait days for them to finally release it. Ugh.

Same here...facebook is blocked by default here as well. Not sure why ED uses some third party site to display their stuff there first.

Don't get the point about dividing people. Why not to upload to youtube and fb at the same time? And to answer the question, no, there are people that don't want to join crapbook no mater what. Anyway, big minus for PR ED!!! You've just made those that don't have a fb account to feel as a worst part of community.

Thankfully it is getting closer to the time when we get our hands on the Normandy map and we won't have to bother watching videos of it. I also don't go onto the face place so I would prefer it if the videos were uploaded somewhere else, but if ED believes it is the best way to market themselves I guess I can wait a few days.

It's all about the algorithms, the more people watch the Normandy video and/or press like, the more fb adds the video to other people's feeds. It's just another way that fb algorithms are ruining the internet, news and our lives.

I am still looking forward to seeing the video when it appears somewhere else, but mostly looking forward to taking off from England in a Spitfire and crossing the Chanel for some sightseeing.

Come on guys....not everything requires instant gratification. People are getting bent out of shape for having to wait a few days? Honestly, does it make that much of a difference?

As to why they don't upload it at the same time, it could be because they make more edits for one or the other, and rendering takes time etc.

I don't use Facebook all that much, but I don't mind going there to watch a video. I don't think you have to log in or anything (but I could be wrong - haven't watched it on FB)

As for accusing ED of making people "worst part of the community" do you *honestly* think that's what they did? You make it sound as if they sat around in a room, howling at the thought of screwing their non-FB customers. As mentioned before, they can reach however many billions of people that use FB. Nothing wrong with that, that's just smart use of resources.

Let's give them a week and watch it on YouTube. Oh wait, then the Vimeo people will be left out and will curse ED to eternity....crap, you just can't win :D

When does ED give away plane modules to server owners?

you dont need to own a plane module to make a mission and set it as client.

you need to own it if you want to occupy that slot in the mission though.

This. Every server can run missions with every flyable airplane. Only owners of the plane modules can use them. Maps could be handled the same way.

Maps are handled the same, if you dont own the map, you cant enter the map, if you dont own the plane, you cant enter the plane.

So for the last time... please discuss the map, not ED's business practices. this thread is for people that are going to purchase the map, and are interested in discussing it.

I just bought the Combined Arms module, hopefully I might be able to get a bit more up close to some of that WW2 gear and those French villages. Has anyone had much experience of CA in VR? Apparently in VR tanks are a bit wonky, but I'd be happy to just drive around in a jeep or something.
