Slmod for DCS 1.5/2.0

Is there anyway we can give ownership to the units that CTLD people drop so that SLmod can give them credit when they shoot people down, I know blueflag does it but there code is obfuscated...... Cant learn from that.

 

That could be kind of complicated to implement. Even with the built in transportation options there isn't any event associated with units loading/unloading from a helicopter. It also comes back to having to associate events created by AI to a different unit for a specific player. Plus it may need specific rules for different scripts that can be used to spawn units. Is there a way to do it, sure. Is it practical or a priority over other stuff that could be added with slmod, at the moment I don't think so.

On Newest update of DCS 1.5 current as of today.. SL Mod not working giving me a mission script error, how can that be fixed? ty in advance keeps giving a attemp to index global slmod send data in mainchunk error

Check your DCS.log to verify slmod is loading. It will start with this

and the last line should be for

If it doesn't get to slmodtests.lua you should try reinstalling the slmod files. I just tried it on the latest patch and it loaded just fine.

Run your game as administrator. Right Click your icon for DCS World and go to properties>Shortcut>Advanced and ensure that "Run as Administrator" is checked.

 

If that doesn't work then you can try to overwrite the file manually. In you DCS install folder there should be a folder called _backup.xyz. Go to whichever has the biggest number behind it and there should be a folder for Scripts with the file MissionScripting.lua in it. The file should be around 36kb in size while the normal one is just 1 or 2 kb. The larger one is the one modified for slmod.

 

Basically because slmod modifies this one file, each time there is a DCS update it will download and install the default version. Slmod is setup to automatically install its own version on game launch if the file it reads isn't the one modified by slmod or is, but isn't up to date.

That did it Grimes, Thank you very much for the help..... greatly appreciated.. everything is up and running. wanted to know more about your mist scripts.. do they allow ai planes to respawn and if so how would u set that up?

Logging of PVP causes FPS drop and host's 1 min freeze.

Usually it's happening when players shoot each other or bots. When Su-27 player teamhit Il-78 while I spectated it via F2 as host I got 2-3 mins 0 FPS freeze but other players didn't freeze. I got ~20 freezes for 4 hours session of that multiplayer game and it was always caused because someone teamhit/kill.

Well then, I could see why that might be causing lag issues. Could try disabling the stats for the time being until I figure out the cause. Unfortunately I have a few dcs related tasks that are more important than slmod at the moment. If I find the time I'll dive in and investigate it.

Can anyone help me with my issue?

 

As soon as I start a server I get a continuous error message about a 'nil value'

 

My log file is below: there seems to be a problem writing to one of the files in the Scripts folder. I saw that the files in there were all read only and were 'blocked' by Win 10.

 

I edited them all to remove those attributes but it still doesn't want to work.

Ping limit in mission file ?

 

Hello,

 

Please can anyone help remove ping limit from a mission file or tell me how to do it ?

 

I was hosting a server but players above 300ms are kicked out. It is very frustrating I don't want ping limit on my server.

 

I m not running Slmod etc.

It is impossible for something in the mission file to monitor ping unless you have a server side mod installed allowing it to. None of the scripts in the mission attempt to do that. So either you do have a mod installed that limits ping or something is going on with your internet preventing the higher ping players from staying connected.

I copied the scripts folder to C:\Users\<username>\Saved Games\DCS. I ran DCS as administrator and opened a multiplayer mission. Afterwords, there is no "slmod" folder created at C:\Users\<username>\Saved Games\DCS.

 

Might there be an issue using Server 2012?

Check your DCS.log for mentions of slmod. It there should be a series of entries stating different slmod files have been loaded. If that isn't there or if not all files are loaded, then slmod wouldn't fully be initialized. SlmodTest.lua should be the last to load.

I got it. Even though it's "run as" administrator and I'm logged in with a standard account, the Scripts folder needs to go in administrator's \saved games\DCS. I was looking for it to do its stuff in the user's profile.

 

Working as expected now.
