That I can do. We've had a winter full of testing and many things are where they should be. FM was tested, some systems like hydraulics, weapons (including convergence / harmonization) and few others things such as sounds. Right now what is mostly remaining is cockpit perfection, final testing and sending to ED for their part of testing and evaluation. Rudel is working on cockpit details like piping, if you take a look at some pictures of Corsairs you will see ungodly amount of pipes and wires exposed in the cockpit. All this can be seen by user and all this has to be modeled. And its the cockpit that really takes so much time.
On my end I can say that I had a mix of fortune and misfortune in finding documentation. I have found a lot of interesting documents regarding rockets, gunsights, toss bombing equipment and Bat bomb but only a portion of them could be researched as due to pandemic most archives (for example NARA facilities in Seattle and College Park and Smithsonian NASM) and museums are down. Oh, and I've spent a fair portion of last month writing a manual for the DCS F4U.

Thanks a lot lot for the quick update! I really appreciate such short dev status updates!

This thread is only 5,5 years old so in another 5,5 you will see some flying. Be ready boys for 2026 and then 2030 for bug fixing 😉 and that's being optimistic.

Well it is June 2021 and 2.7 is out and the Marianas Islands will be out 2nd quarter, so the F4U real release date of 2016 is now 5 years old.

  Hope its here soon !!!1

Six years worth of posts and still no Corsair. And we're still seeing untextured screenshots. Got my fingers crossed, though. Marianas appears to be right around the corner, so maybe the F4U will be released about the same time. I'm the eternal optimist. Flying a DCS quality F4U Corsair over Pacific islands, shooting down Zeros, and operating from an Essex class carrier....well, we're talking flight sim nirvana.

Actually, Leatherneck's own summer development report looks promising. I'd say Corsair is probably 2-4ish months away maybe, probably, perhaps :). Most of the importants systems seem to be done, flight model is getting tuned, external looks great, and cockpit's modeling seems fairly advanced, and texturing remains.

Looks amazing… can’t wait

seems like we’ll be getting a FAA version as well - just as well, as the Yanks didn’t know what they were doing

Eh, I think that's jumping to conclusions. Just seeing the radar work being started on the F8U (whose model and cockpit are clearly not complete either) clearly shows that M3's workflow is different from e.g. Razbam, who always claim that for them, the art needs to be fully completed before moving on to coding.

Our programmers only need basic shapes of the cockpit, switches, gauges, etc.   With those in place, artists can work on the model/textures without interfering with programming.  Basically,  artist are playing catch up to the programmers. ))

The F4U cockpit is actually textured.  If users follow our updates, they will see night pictures with lights.  As the lead artist, it's my decision not to show them fully until I deem them suitable for content creators.

The summer update is to showcase some of the missing details and corrections.
