F-86 not using proper ammunition?

So as you can see from this tacveiw, our squadron was testing out the super invincibility of the migs. What they noticed was that the Sabre was firing AN/M2 bullets and not AN/M3s that the Sabre actually has. Is there a differnce between the two .50 cal. types or is there a difference in muzzle velocity?

So is there actually a ballistics issue or a scripting issue here BST?

In the f86f.lua,you can read this on line 9:

function m3_browing(tbl)

tbl.category = CAT_GUN_MOUNT

tbl.name = "m3_browning"

tbl.supply =

{

shells = {"M2_50_aero_AP","M20_50_aero_APIT"},

mixes = {{1,2,2,1,2,2}}, --

count = 267,

}

In fact,f86f fires both M2_50_aero_AP and "M20_50_aero_APIT". In the game breifing,we can see that f86f fires m3, but in the tacview,it tells us that f86f fires M2.

Just wondering if by that time powders or bullets were changed in favour of a better A2A implementation. If neither of those are the case then its a bug where the M3 is firing M2 shells, or TacVeiw is calling M20 ammo M2.

Just to clarify:

There are two different types of 'M2' being referenced. There is the 'M2' .50 caliber Armor Piercing (AP) cartridge and there is the 'M2' Browning machine gun. So, when you see "M2 Shell" it's referring to the AP cartridge fired by the M3 machine guns. The actual guns (not the cartridges) in the F-86 are indeed M3 variants.

You can see both the M2 and M20 cartridges in this photo.

I had a .22 calibur pistol that could fire those. :tomato:

The Hornet is best at killing things on the ground. Now, if we could just get a GAU-8 in the nose next to the AN/APG-65, a titanium tub around the pilot, and a couple of J-58 engines in the tail...
