animotion
Downloaded the 1.7 beta but did not install it because of the warning about needing a product key. I do plan on purchasing it but I want to make sure it works for me first.
Vyrtuoz
You can install Tacview 1.7.0 beta without a product key. Even if you will not be able to run the main application, this will fix DCS World exporter. And while waiting for the final release, you can continue to use, in parallel, the main application 1.6.4. San Patricio
I'm having an odd problem with Tacview in DCS 2.2. I downloaded the 1.7.0 betabeta to get around the current issues with 1.5.8 and 2.2 and it now records fine in 1.5.8. But in 2.2 it always records very small (1 or 2kb) files that contain no units and no flight data, just the selected map (this is all in single player). I did recently move my 2.2 install to a new drive, but I'm not sure what else it could be that's causing it to work fine 1.5.8 but to have this particular problem of small, mostly blank ACMI files in 2.2. Vyrtuoz
Tacview 1.7.0 final should be released in two more weeks. Meanwhile, you may want to delete your export.lua file and reinstall the latest beta to fix your current export issues. Mistermann
Okay ... newb alert here. I downloaded the latest version of TacView and installed with DCS 1.5.8. I saw above that I needed to grab the beta version in order to properly install TacView. I did that and all appears to be working. I get the setup screen located in the SPECIAL tab of the configurations. Here's what's puzzling me -- every TacView track gets written to my harddrive as 1KB. I can fly 2 minutes or 20, it doesn't matter. Every track is 1KB. When I open these in TacView there's no data that displays. Its as if the file contains the mission name and nothing else. Clearly not much there with a 1KB file. NOTE: This is on a clean (I just freshly installed DCS), unmodified version of DCS. Also NOTE: My DCS.LOG has the following alert -- 00057.192 ALERT EDCORE: Can't execute Lua file C:\Users\MM\Saved Games\DCS\Scripts\Export.lua - [string "C:\Users\MM\Saved Games\DCS\Scripts/TacviewExportDCS.lua"]:247: table index is nil Thoughts?? BrzI
Just installed 1.6.4 standard. Two questions : 1. I am unable to change the folder where the files are written to. It will only work under %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Tacview. If I use the GUI to point to another folder the logs are not written. 2. When I open DCS I do not see any options for Tacview under "SPECIAL". I have the fully patched v1.5.8. No icons of any kind are visible. Thanks

Thank you! I case anyone else is having this issue, I fixed it. It appears that my EXPORT.LUA was corrupt. This is the one that the 1.6.4 installer placed in my saved games folder. I deleted it and installed the 1.7 beta. This installer wrote a new EXPORT.LUA which was much larger that the one I deleted (renamed). Now my tracks export just fine and all appears to be working as designed! Vyrtuoz
1) You are probably running the Steam version of DCS World. In that case, simply restart Steam, this should propagate the export directory settings to DCS World Steam edition. 2) Install Tacview 1.7 beta (the non-beta should be available today), this will fix the export options as well as the exporter. Just installed 1.6.4 standard. Two questions : 1. I am unable to change the folder where the files are written to. It will only work under %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Tacview. Vyrtuoz
Tacview 1.7.0 is now available! Tacview 1.7.0 is now available! At last, the long-awaited update is here! Download: http://tacview.net/download First, I'd like to give special thanks to the French Air Force, for sponsoring some of the major improvements in this version and accepting them to be published in the public version of Tacview. That way the whole community can benefit from the idea and support of everyone! The first major improvement in this new version is a brand-new objects database. The old code has been replaced by clean and powerful module which can smartly analyse, in real-time, objects types and names to properly display the right 3D models and properties. In other words: no more surface-to-air missiles displayed like tanks! Another important feature of this module: you can now dynamically change *any* object property, and the result will instantaneously be displayed on screen without the need of reloading the file. This further improves the real-time telemetry as well as opening new possibilities like unidentified radar contacts, airbases captures, and so on… This new database is fully customizable. Numerous 3D models have been already added, and new objects declarations are added every day. A dedicated documentation will soon explain how to extend the new database by adding your own declarations (especially handy when you are flying real-life aircraft which are not yet declared in Tacview): http://www.tacview.net/documentation/database/ The other new feature available to the proud owners of Tacview Standard and Tacview Advanced is the new synchronized media player. You can now play up to four (4) audio/video files synchronized with the 3D view! Very handy to playback the video of in-game HUD, instruments, squadron chat and even real-time GoPro videos! Because this new media player is based on the installed Windows codecs, all your favorite video formats should be supported. You can read the following release notes to know more about the usual numerous improvements and fixes provided by this update. Now that the new database is working and stable, I can start working on a brand-new module. But this is a surprise. I will tell you more about it as soon as I have something working ;) Vyrtuoz Video playback Filling up the new database FEATURES & CHANGES Added synchronized audio/video playback (up to four media at the same time) Brand new fully customizable objects properties database Added numerous new 3d models Improved helicopters and propeller aircraft models Integrated BMS Nordic theater version 2.1 Integrated BMS Pillars of Hercules theater 0.7.8.6 Tacview now supports GAE files with lines ending in blank characters GAE object rotation is now automatically emulated when provided data is invalid KML files hierarchical styles and aliases are now supported The registered license key is now displayed in the “About” dialog box Unknown objects will now be displayed with the generic triangle plane shape Added support for transparent objects for 3d models (typically used for propellers) An error message is now displayed in the debug console when a declared 3D model cannot be loaded It is now possible to not display the transponder code from the labels Improved VHS files merge (when Falcon does not provide all information) Objects groups can now be edited directly from Tacview Added support for Dynon Skyview EFIS csv files Added /Authenticate command line option which returns -1 when all loaded documents are authentic FIXES Updated DCS World exporter to support DCS 1.5.8 and 2.2.0 Upgraded Tacview clock to improve synchronization during online debriefing or media playback Tacview is now gracefully handling distorted aircraft orientation in BMS Theaters (notably Nordic and Ostsee) GAE files with longitudes of exactly 0 were not properly loaded Tacview is now using the date provided in GAE file name before using last file change time as a reference Line number displayed in error messages was not correct with files randomly mixing CR/LF characters The event log was not always detailed when loading a flight from a different source as before Fixed Z-fighting on threats domes AGL/ASL limits where not always properly displayed in charts Pitch angle was inverted when exporting object rotation telemetry from the charts Fixed crash when loading VHS files containing invalid (NaN) data
DerWaldfuerst
Hello there, yesterday I installed Tacview 1.5.2. Recording and watching flights from DCS is no problem. But for some reason it is quite laggy, with frame rates down to 10, not "smooth" 10fps, but with stuttering. It also seems to slow down all the other open applications, like drop down menus open really slow, as well as in Tacview as in the other open applications. Changing object sizes, tags, trail length or even the world textures to none and flat didn´t change anything. Neither did changing the compatibility mode to Windows 7 (my current OS). So far I haven´t found anything low frame rate related regarding tacview, which I find a bit odd, I don´t think I´m the only one experiencing such problems (well, maybe yes). Some more info: Tacview: 1.5.2 DCS: 1.5.5.60565 System Specs: Lenovo Y70-70 Touch Link for details: https://www.cnet.com/products/lenovo-y70-70-touch-80du-17-3-core-i7-4710hq-8-gb-ram-1-tb-hybrid-drive-80du0033us/specs/ (I have 500GB SSD instad of 1TB Hybrid though) Thanks for your help in advance. Just in case somebody also has a low frame rate issue with TacView, I got it solved. The reason was that TacView was using my laptops on board graphics card instead of the GTX860M, now that I´ve told TacView to use the GTX I´m getting closer to 65fps. jasonstory44
Hi Vyrtuoz, I just tried installing 1.7. In the past when I have updated TacView it has always just installed the new version over the top. This time I am getting an error on install. Install Failed Please ensure you have enough access rights and free space. Plenty of room on the hard drive...UAC is off. Tried running the installer as administrator...And my previous version of the stable release TacView is gone. The beta is still present. Any thoughts on where I should begin to troubleshoot this? jasonstory44
Hmm, Interestingly enough maybe just the desktop icon vanished. TacView64 was in the TacView folders under Programs(x86) and when I load it...the about tab says 1.7. I just created a new desktop shortcut. Does this seem like a problem or do I seem to be good to go? Vyrtuoz
Very strange, this is the first time someone is reporting an error at the install! Anyway, Tacview is very simple in practice, so if you can launch the application and the DCS World exporter is generating files, you are good to go! Spt
Hello Sure it was already asked, but can we read or convert a DCS track file in Tacview ? Vyrtuoz
Tacview cannot read DCS trk files. This is impossible, because only DCS World can simulate the world corresponding to the data recorded in trk files. One thing you can do: to playback trk file in DCS World, this will record a new acmi file. Handy if you played on an online server which do not authorize telemetry export. Thermal
Is there a plan to add the ability to re-bind the controls/use a joystick in Tacview? I have one of these and would love to get it working: https://www.3dconnexion.eu/products/spacemouse/spacemousewireless.html It can emulate a directx game controller (and a mouse, and it has a native API), so any sort of joystick support would do :)
