Hursta1
Just wanted to say this has been a lifesaver for me. Im a new player coming from a civilian flight sim background. Since the F16 manual is unavailable yours was the only way to learn the aircraft along with the training missions. Ive read the whole thing once and have re read sections many times. I still haven't made it to AG mode but I'm sure with your manuals I'll be fine. So thanks very much!

You do realise the F-16 ED manual (updated last in December) is available in the usual place, i.e. the docs folder of the module? 1 Intel i9 10900K 5.1GHz · MSI Gaming X Trio RTX 3090 · ASUS ROG STRIX Z590-F Wi-Fi · Acer 4K 32" XB321HK · Samsung 970 500Gb M.2 NVMe · 2 x Samsung 850 Evo 1Tb · 2Tb HDD · 32Gb Corsair Vengance 3000MHz DDR4 · Windows 10 · Thrustmaster TPR Pedals · TrackIR5 · Thrustmaster F/A-18 Hornet Grip · Virpil WarBRD Base · Virpil Throttle MT-50 CM3 · Virpil Alpha Grip · HP Reverb G2
Hursta1
No I didn't considering I'm a brand new player. Why are you inserting yourself into something that you have Nothing to do with. The manual isn't in a place thats accessible to new players. Its not under the tab on the main site with the rest of them. Chucks was easy to find and effective. Do you work for ED? This is kind of a messed up way of introducing yourself if you do.
imacken
Are you serious? I’m pointing out to you where the official manual is for the F-16, as you stated that it was unavailable! That is where all the official manuals are stored. I hoped it would help you. imacken
I think by not ‘accessible’, he means that the location is not obvious to new players, which is true. I honestly wonder how many users are not even aware of modules’ docs folder and it’s contents. It would be useful if ED somehow linked to it. By "not accessible' @Hursta1 probably means both: that quite strange location in the install folder which a newbloke won't find on his own for sure (@ED why no 'manuals' folder directly in the main DCS World install? Plus shortcuts in the start menu folder?) and also the currently broken link to the F-16 manual on the website's download section (for weeks now at least @BIGNEWY literally takes 5 minutes to fix). /// not looking to derail here, but i guess folks will probably land here looking for the manual, so i thought i mention the current issues. The manuals can be found in "DCS World/Mods/aircraft/MODULENAME/Doc" (yeah^^). BIGNEWY
We have plans to make all manuals linkable on the icons on the main menu, its not ready yet but hopefully not to long to wait. For now the manuals can be found in the mod folder of the dcs root install for each aircraft example DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\A-10C_2\Doc or on our website https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/documentation/viper_flight_manual_en/ 4 Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Charly_Owl
@BIGNEWYAn even better solution would be to make these pdfs available in-game while you are flying... kneeboard-style. Ssomething like what ED developed for the P-51 Mustang when presing ESC. The official manuals are great. I still open up the Mi-8 manual from time to time. 2 Chuck's DCS Tutorial Library Chuck's Guides on Mudspike Chuck's Youtube Channel Chuck's Patreon

JEFX
@BIGNEWYAvailable in game : in VR as well? Hi Chuck First and foremost I really want to thank you so much for all your guides, they are amazing!!! That has been the only way I start learning a new module!!! I found a (very small) mistake in the hornet guide.. On the HUD description page (32), you mark the bank angle tick marks as 0-5-10-30-45 degrees but it is rather 0-5-15-30-45 if I am not mistaken? Thanks again!! JEFX Edited February 20 by JEFX [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] In DCS I fly jets with thousands of pounds of thrust... Thanks a lot for keeping these wonderful documents updated. May I ask if do you have plans to create a Guide for the A-4E Community Mod? This is probably the most popular non-official aircraft in DCS and it is a really nice experience, particularly for new players that have tried the Su-25T but have not yet purchased a study level Module. Its version 2.0 is currently on the latest stages of development and a final release should be near. Charly_Owl
Would love to if I had time... but I believe that Heclak and Wheelyjoe already created their own pdf guides, which are good. Wouldn't it be a bit like re-inventing the wheel? Wouldn't it be a bit like re-inventing the wheel? Yes, but both of those documents were written for version 1.4 and thus miss information on the use of the UHF Radio, the AAR capability, the Cp-741 Bombing Computer, the AFCS yaw damper, the differential braking. There are still things that are in development, like a better simulation of the fuel system and adding Air-Air capability to the TACAN so that we can find those tanker aircrafts .. but there is enough new items already to make a 2.0 Guide a really useful thing indeed For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia GTX1070ti - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar - Oculus Rift CV1 Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
