Re-opening this thread at Yo-Yo's request. He was able to talk with Klaus Plasa (he flies a Me 109G-6), one of the topics was trim. He stated that the plane trims to 400-450 kph, but not beyond, this pretty much mirrors what we currently see in the sim.
Wow, FINALLY. After so much talking and lasts documents shown here I was quite sure about that, but good to know  . Truly thanks for the info.

I didnt have much doubt either, I discussed with Yo-Yo a long time one day when this all came about, but its nice that he got to talk to another 109 pilot, lucky dog in Duxford again :)

Trims? what trims? Trim Tab, stabilicer trim?

SiThSpAwN I remind you that red7 is a G4 and DCS have K4, any difference, no?

Incidentally, the G2 is famos test with guns underwing or not?

Ah, you know that with flaps lowered the K4 nose up?

Regards

Yo-Yo told me he flies a G6, I am going by what he said, I dont know otherwise. And I dont think there was huge changes, least in the aspects we are talking about between those variants. But again, I leave that in Yo-Yo's capable hands to determine.

The plane is still beta, I am not sure if loadouts and their effects are finalized yet. I will ask Yo-Yo when he returns.

Well Klaus Plasa flies for EADS, so G-4 and G-10. It's really a subtle difference, but people will complain, you know :smilewink:.

Thanks for the correction, I may have misread his message too... household is sick, and sleep is even in less supply than usual. All that said though... I think differences concerning trim will be subtle between the Gs and Ks, but I am not at the same level of expertise as Yo-Yo :)

That may be comfortable for the pilot flying the real aircraft but what about us virtual pilots with joysticks without feedback?

Also any word on getting a trim wheel to work on a axis?:joystick:

Indeed G10 is almost the same aircraft as K4 with really few changes, but when it's time to complain people will say they are complete and absolutely different ones .

I agree on both parts ;)

As always, if they have the documentation to prove such large differences actually exist, I suggest they forward them to Yo-Yo for sure ;)

I stand corrected, it is indeed the G4 he is hanging around at Duxford with, so my bad. Carry on... all other information is still relevant.. trim isnt much good after 400-450kph

Frankly, it was my typo about G6 (it even could be G7 or G8-1 because of really hot days here), but it does not change things - it is not necessary and even dangerous having the aircraft trimmed at higher speed. I mean pitch trim, of course. So, i discussed taxiing, takeoff - it's correspond with the model and Erich Brunotte memoirs.

So, any speculations on the trim are useless, gentlemen... :)

Fine, as long as it can't be used as a cheat while in a turnfight (as it could in another sim I won't mention here).

It (trim wheel) should still turn no faster than what is available in the real thing I think, if thats what you mean.

Based on what?

The differences between G2 and K4 are several important.

- Weight of the airplane and its engine

- Fuel and MW50 comsumption

- Tail (tall vertical fin)

- Wing (wheel well bulge)

- Landing gear completaly streamlined.

This things change the CoG, so this russian test data are not totally extrapolable.

You need to show comparative test data to prove that the trim and how it responds differently, otherwise you are just guessing. I am not sure much of what you list would effect cruise that much or how the plane reacts to higher speeds either in regards to trim...

Yah, pretty much, although there _could_ be more (think about math derivatives and how they may be [mis]handled by the engine) - but let's just say that all this is something I won't delve into here. Mostly because I'd then need to make too many comparisons with things past... well not that anything was in any way BETTER then than what we have currently, but still ;)

Still, no trim cheats, please, and I'm sure everyone's happy.

Well,

my thank you to Yo-Yo for having taken the time to go to the field and talk to a Bf109 pilot.

I will then have to accept that, at least in as far as trimming goes, the K4 must be correct.

This Bf-109 G2 russian test is extrapolable to Bf-109K4?

Following your logic any plane with the serial number different than in the report can show very different results?

If you want to expand your list you can add pilot's weight and even pilot's name....

Any weight/balance changes can be easily recalculated to the certain CoG position. The airframes differencies are so minimal that can be neglected regarding the longitudinal moments. Fin has nothing to longitudinal stability. All bulbs and any other small things jn the wing that has small percentage across wingspan - have no effect to longitudinal moments too.
