Xealot
Greetings everyone! I have a little problem, I have quite recently learnt to perform visual carrier landings almost flawlessly now so i never really relied on the ILS at all, only a day ago i tried landing in complete dark using the ILS and my hud looked like this: picture of hud which is right unless i am totally clueless about how this ILS thing works, but everytime i seem to miss the carrier and fly right above it, not by much but enough to make the hook miss.. :/ Are there any good tracks around that would teach me using the ILS or are there any general tips that i should know of? I have pretty much relied on visual for all my landings, both airfields and carriers so im trying to learn the ILS now The community newbie http://winsbydefault.com/pics/dctf1ibxh7.gif Replace this image! Kenan
Just follow the ILS and fly steady 310 kph. When some 0.7-0.9 from carrier, disengage speed hold and pull back throttle stick maintaining the ILS lock. But of course, it all depends on the speed of the carrier ie. if it's moving or not. Kenan
P.S. You overshooting the carrier may have something to do with approach speed being too fast. That speed on your hud is way to fast. Even a skilled and unbelievably resourceful talented pilot like like me couldn't make a trap like that. You're also using v1.02 - tsk tsk :P Buy Flaming Cliffs old chap . . . . use the concentric circles ILS, it's more fun ;) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
Pilotasso
^^^^yeah get the CD version if the "certain-item-that-I-should-not-mention" bothers you. Youll never regret it. And more realistic. BUT, it's basically only the visual side that's changed, while the system of using it, remains the same. :) 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Commanding Officer of: 2nd Company 1st financial guard battalion "Mrcine" See our squads here and our . S77th-konkussion
My advice is to rely on the ADI needles as your primary reference. They will clearly show any minor corrections that need to be made- especially with respect to localization. Force_Feedback
You can make traps of up to 450 km/h, tested last night, and after you overshoot, your speed will be that low, that you have to either deploy flaps and go full emergency thrust, or pull back and press ctrl+EEE Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:
